John "Jack" H. Imrie, 76, of Holland, Pa., died Dec. 5 at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, Pa.
Born in Lockhaven, Pa., and a resident of Holland, Pa., for eight years, he was a former 25-year resident of Hopewell Township.
In 1949, he graduated from Union College in New York with a degree in geology. He later earned a second bachelor’s degree in social science from Springfield College, Springfield, Mass.
For over 20 years, Mr. Imrie was employed as director of the YMCA in Ewing Township. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He also was a member of the Jericho Road Barbershop Quartet in Holland, Pa., and ran the music program at Twining Manor. He also had earned his pilot’s license.
Son of the late John H. and Hazel Hanchette Imrie, husband of the late Lavon O. Root Imrie, and father of the late David D. Imrie, he is survived by his wife of two years, Ella Jane Van Horn Hagenbuch Imrie; a daughter, Joanne E. Gibison and her husband J. Lee of Titusville; two sons, John R. Imrie and his wife Susan of Woodlands, Texas, and Paul W. Imrie of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, William Imrie of Burnt Hills, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Jan. 17 at Twining Village Auditorium, 280 Middle Holland Road, Holland, Pa., where the family will receive friends after 10 a.m.
Interment was private.
