Edison rabbi says celebrate holiday on its proper date

I greatly enjoy reading the Sentinel. In your last issue you covered the Edison Township candle lighting for Hanukkah.

This year I did not attend because the event occurred the night before the holiday started.

Unlike the Christmas season, there is no "pre" Hanukkah season. While I congratulate the participants in the event, I hope in the future Hanukkah will be celebrated by the township during the actual holiday. In jest I suggested to a number of my Christian clergy friends that they should consider celebrating Christmas Dec. 24. They found this ridiculous and so do I.
