Fire destroys shed hiding Christmas gifts

Christmas gifts for two children destroyed by fire in a township family’s shed.

   A shed containing a family’s Christmas presents for two children was destroyed by fire two days before Christmas, police said.
   Township police, the Monroe Township First Aid Squad and firefighters from five companies responded to a call for the fire on East Sedgwick Street at 10:08 p.m. Dec. 23. The firemen were unable to save the shed. There were no injuries.
   The cause of the fire has not been determined. Fire and police officials are continuing their investigations.
   Firefighters from Monroe’s three fire departments, fire districts Nos. 1 and 3 and the Applegarth Fire Department, and firefighters from the Jamesburg and Helmetta departments were dispatched to the fire.
