Mr. Ford, 64, of Manchester died Jan. 3 at Meridian Hospice, Brick, following a battle with lymphoma. Born in Perth Amboy, he resided in Woodbridge, Little Silver, and Wilmington, N.C., before moving to Manchester four years ago. Mr. Ford was a senior sales engineer at Barden Corp., Danbury, Conn., for 30 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Lakewood. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Campbell Ford; two sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas H. and Kim Daraghy Ford of Aberdeen, and John R. and JoAnn Healy Ford of Red Bank; a sister, Mary Jane Ford of California; and one grandson. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Mary of the Lake Church., followed by burial at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood. Arrangements were by D’Elia Funeral Home, Lakewood. William H. Tichenor
Mr. Tichenor, 77, of West Grove, Pa., died Dec. 26 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, Del. Born in Jersey City, he spent his early years in Matawan. Mr. Tichenor was a division director of Hercules Inc. and a partner in Radiant Color Co., Richmond, Calif. After graduating from Matawan High School, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a 1949 graduate of Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa., where he earned a degree in industrial engineering. Mr. Tichenor was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce Ruth Johnson Tichenor, in 1993. He is survived by his wife, Doris L. Wood Tichenor; a stepdaughter and her husband, Cynthia and Alex Russell of New Canaan, Conn.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Ann and H. Robert Carter of Little Silver. A graveside service will be held March 13 at Longwood Cemetery, Kennett Square, Pa. The Foulk Funeral Home Inc., West Grove, Pa., is in charge of arrangements.
Gilbert "Gibby" W. Boyer Jr.
Mr. Boyer, 73, of Rumson died Dec. 25 at home. He was born and raised in Sea Bright before moving to Rumson, where he lived for the past 46 years. Mr. Boyer graduated from Long Branch High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed in retail liquor sales and was a well-known local bartender during his retirement. He was a member of the Sea Bright and Rumson fire departments. He played baseball on numerous teams and was a well-known third baseman. Mr. Boyer is survived by his wife of 47 years, Catherine Pomphrey Boyer; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Rebecca Boyer, and Robert and Carol Boyer, all of Rumson; a daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Todd Roser of Atlantic Highlands; a brother, James Boyer of Fort Monmouth; a sister, Anna Mae Krivas of Fort Meyers, Fla.; and seven grandchildren. Services were held at John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Linda Marie Heckle Evans
Ms. Evans, 52, of Rumson died Dec. 20 at home. She was born in Fort Hamilton, N.Y. and lived in Lincroft and Eatontown before moving to the Rumson area 15 years ago. Ms. Evans graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School and attended Seton Hall College, South Orange. She was employed by the telecommunications industry and most recently as a software engineer at Lucent Technologies, Middletown, for 10 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Stella and John Heckle Jr.; a brother, William Heckle, in 1994; and her stepmother, Mary Perrotta Heckle. She is survived by her twin sister, Deborah H. (McKelvy) Heckle of Birmingham, Mich.; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Michelle Heckle of Lafayette, Calif.; and a friend, Gregg Evans of Atlantic Highlands. Services were held at the John E. Christeen Margaret Green Thompson
Mrs. Thompson, 93, of Freehold Township died Dec. 26 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Long Branch, she had lived in Freehold for the past 72 years and was a child care provider. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Freehold, and Order of the Eastern Star, Molly Pitcher Chapter No. 198, also in Freehold. She was predeceased in 1989 by her husband, W. Thurston Thompson. Surviving are two sisters, Edna Brister of West Long Branch and Florence Palmer of Port Richey, Fla. Funeral services were held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, with the Rev. Myrna Bethke, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment followed at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township. Order of the Eastern Star services were also held. John J. Lembeck
Mr. Lembeck, 76, of Rumson died Dec. 21 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Bayonne, he moved to Rumson 45 years ago. Mr. Lembeck graduated from Bayonne High School in 1945. He was employed as a salesman for Bostitch, a division of Stanley Tools, Carlstadt, retiring in 1986 after more than 35 years of service. Mr. Lembeck was also the co-owner of the former 5 J’s Variety Store, Sea Bright in the 1970s. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of Holy Cross Church, Rumson. Mr. Lembeck is survived by his wife of 55 years, Julianna Zelinsky Lembeck; two sons and daughters-in-law, John R. and Linda Lembeck of Rumson, and James B. and Jenine Lembeck of Wofford Heights, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Robert Kuesel of Old Greenwich, Conn.; and five grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered by his nephew, the Rev. Raymond A. Bucko, S.J., followed by interment at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. The John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements.
