Seven standouts, one team
enter OTHS Hall of Fame

The Ocean Township High School Athletic Hall of Fame will be enlarged to 68 members when seven scholastic stars and one team are inducted at ceremonies to be held at the high school Jan. 16.

The ceremony will commence at 5:30 p.m. with a light dinner reception in the high school cafeteria. The new Hall of Fame members will be introduced at halftime of the Ocean vs. Manalapan boys basketball game to be played that night.

The following nominees will be inducted:

Robin Truex, class of 1969, who was a four-year varsity letter-winner in basketball and field hockey. Truex was awarded honorable mention by the Newark Star Ledger as Outstanding Female Athlete of the Decade.

Russell McManus, class of 1988, who was a varsity athlete in football, swimming and track, and won the Shore Conference 50-meter title and participated in the Tournament of Champions in the discus. McManus went on to be an All-American in crew at the University of Virginia and won a silver medal in the 1991 Pan American Games. He was a member of four New York Athletic Club crew teams that won national championships.

Maurice Bell, class of 1989, who was First Team All-County, All-Shore and a state champion in the long jump, an event in which he still holds the OTHS record. As a collegian, he was named to the All-East Coast Team.

Bruce Haddad, class of 1989, who was First Team All-Shore for four years and First Team All-State for three years in tennis. He was the state champion runner-up for two years and was named a collegiate All-American for two years at the University of Florida. He was also a five-time National Junior Tennis champion.

Matthew Hoyle, class of 1989, was All-Conference, All-Shore and First Team All-State in football, and a Penn Relays 400-meter champion.

Doug Rossback, class of 1991, was All-Conference, All-Shore and First Team All-State in football and the MVP of the Monmouth University football team in 1995.

Nicole Siniscalso, class of 1993, was First Team All-County and All-Shore for four years and First Team All-State for two years in softball. She pitched 16 no-hitters and two perfect games in her high school career, and was named First Team Division II All-American and Collegiate Academic All-American at C.W. Post College.

The girls varsity softball team of 1993, coached by Mark Frankel, will also be inducted. The team won the Lady Buc Monmouth County Tournament and were the A North champions as well as Central Jersey Group III champions and the overall Group III state champions.

Each inductee will be introduced by his or her coach at the induction ceremony. Plaques bearing the likeness of the inductees together with descriptions of their achievements will be unveiled at the ceremony and then installed in the Hall of Fame corridor outside the high school gym. The inductees will also be presented with a lifetime pass to all Ocean Township athletic events.
