Friday, Jan. 16 and Saturday, Jan. 17 The Trinity United Methodist Church, 339 Farnsworth Ave., second floor of education building, will hold a monthly sale from 9 a.m. to noon. All men’s suits will be 50 cents and men’s sport jackets priced 25 cents. Valentine’s Day and Easter items will be featured.
Free throw contest
Saturday, Jan. 17 The Florence/Roebling Knights of Columbus is conducting a basketball free throw contest for boys and girls ages 10 to 14 at 4 p.m. in the Florence Middle School gym. For registration information contact Pete Darata at 499-1366. Participants need to reside in Florence or Roebling.
Breakfast
Sunday, Jan. 18 Holy Assumption Parish Holy Name Society all-you-can-eat breakfast features eggs, potatoes, pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee at the Holy Assumption Church, McGrath Hall, 1290 Hornberger Ave. in Roebling from 8:30 to 11 a.m.
Adults eat for $5, seniors (65 and older) eat for $4, children 6 to 12 eat for $3 and children 5 and under eat free.
Annual dance
Saturday, Jan. 24 The Ladies Auxiliary, Bordentown Elks Lodge 2085, 11 Amboy Road, Bordentown, will hold the annual dance featuring Jerry Blava from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the lower ballroom.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and refreshments will be served. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at 298-0180; tickets will not be sold at the door.
Annual dinner
Saturday, Jan. 24 The Jacksonville Presbyterian Church is holding its annual homemade sauerkraut and pork dinner at the Jacksonville Community Center, Jacksonville-Jobstown Road, Jacksonville (next to the firehouse).
Prices are $13 for adults and $5 for children under 12 and reservations are required. Call Doris Nelson at 298-5956 for information. There will be half-hour seatings between 4:30 and 7 p.m.
Open house
Sunday, Jan. 25 The River Studio for Healing and Creative Arts, a new center providing services for pregnant women, newborns and families, will hold an open house from noon to 6 p.m. at the River Studio, 11 West Second St., Florence.
Services offered at the new center include pregnancy, birth, newborn, and family photography; pre-natal, infant and therapeutic massage; birth preparation classes utilizing the "birthing from within" method; and labor support services. Other photography and massage services are offered.
The open house will feature refreshments, door prizes, a gallery exhibit of photography by Debbie Rauscher, and information about massage therapy by Jessica Fleming-Lacher. Augustine Daniels, childbirth educator and doula, will be on hand to discuss classes and labor support services.
Comedy night
Saturday, Feb. 7 The Florence Township High School Soccer Boosters are sponsoring the "Second Annual Comedy Night." Doors open at 6 p.m., comedy starts at 8 p.m. at the Roebling Fire House, Seventh Avenue and Main Street, Roebling. Cost is $30 per person and includes entertainment, door prizes, and a dinner buffet with unlimited beer and soda.
