The Monmouth County Park System will host "A Quilting Bee" Jan. 31 from 1-3 p.m. at Historic Walnford in Crosswicks Creek Park, Upper Freehold Township. Area residents are invited to spend a little time around the quilting frame, stitching through layers of fabric while hearing stories about women who did this work in the past. Only basic hand-sewing skills are required for enjoying this informative afternoon.
On Feb. 1 at 2 p.m., Walnford will host a Groundhog Day program. Participants will have an opportunity to learn the facts and folklore surrounding this little guy who predicts spring’s return.
Both programs are free. For more information, call Walnford at (609) 259-6275. For persons with hearing impairment, the TDD machine number is (732) 219-9484.
Historic Walnford is open daily, and area residents are welcome to enjoy the park any time of year, including after a snowfall, or to spot water winter birds, or to simply appreciate more than 200 years of social, industrial and agriculture history.
