Girl Scouts have launched a cell phone collection campaign to run indefinitely. Idle cell phones will be collected and donated to American Cellular Donation Organization (ACDO). ACDO is a nonprofit organization based in Michigan that sells the phones to third-world countries, small retailers and others who need them but would not otherwise be able to afford it.
People interested in donating their phones to the Monmouth Council of Girl Scouts can call (732) 938-5454. Those who wish to donate cell phones to no particular cause may visit www.cellular-donation.org/zip.asp for the drop-off location nearest to them. For details on ACDO, call (888) 863-2355 or visit www.cellulardonation.org.
