Hans K. Sander of Princeton died Monday at Merwick Rehab Hospital and Nursing Care. He was 79.
   Born in Berlin, Germany, he was a longtime Princeton resident.
   An architect, Mr. Sander played an important role in guiding the development of Princeton Borough and Princeton Township over more than two decades of service, beginning in the 1960s, on the Princeton Township Planning Board and after its merger with the borough board, the Princeton Regional Planning Board. His Planning Board membership continued into the early 1990s, much of that time as chairman. He was instrumental in developing the community Master Plan.
   After immigrating to the United States in 1937, Mr. Sander attended Columbia University and the Princeton University School of Architecture.
   His career began at the architectural firm Walker, Sander, Ford and Kerr in Princeton. He later formed Sander Associates, also in Princeton.
   Among his projects was the Lenox headquarters building on Princeton Pike in Lawrence and a number of building renovations on the campus of Princeton University.
   He was elected a fellow by the American Institute of Architects, in part in recognition of his role in setting guidelines for design review boards. Mr. Sander wrote a widely adopted handbook on design review.
   He is survived by his daughter, Leslie L. Sander of Wilmington, Del.; son Whitney Sander of Venice, Calif.; sister Hilde Winterer of Northampton, Mass.; and partner Yvonne Bleiman of Princeton.
   A memorial service will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Nassau Club, 6 Mercer St., Princeton.
Giorgio Petronio

Giorgio Petronio of Princeton died Monday at home. He was 69.
   Born and raised in Trieste, Italy, he grew up in a period of war, dislocation and postwar reconstruction. He and his wife moved from Rome to Princeton in 1979.
   Mr. Petronio was a longtime executive at Johnson & Johnson and, following his retirement in 1998, formed his own consulting company.
   He received an economics degree from the University of Trieste and a master’s degree in business administration from the School of Business and Administration, Turin, Italy.
   He worked 16 years at Procter & Gamble Co. in Italy, England and the United States.
   Mr. Petronio joined Johnson & Johnson in 1975 as managing director of J&J International in Italy and was appointed vice president four years later. After moving to Princeton, he was appointed company group chairman for the Asia-Pacific region and in 1992 company group chairman for Latin America.
   He enjoyed reading, meditating, arguing with friends and playing tennis.
   He most recently received special care from the hospice program of the Visiting Nurse Association of Mercer County.
   He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elly.
   A memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Church of Saint Charles Borromeo, Montgomery Township.
   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Josephine Peiser

Josephine Peiser of Princeton died Friday at the University Medical Center at Princeton following a seven-year battle with cancer.
   She spent her childhood years in New York where she met her husband, Peter Peiser, a Squibb Corp. executive and later president of Convatec. They lived in London and Paris before returning to the United States in the 1970s. She was a longtime Princeton resident.
   An interior designer, she worked at Altina’s Custom Interiors of Princeton.
   She is survived by her daughter, Caroline Peiser of Fulham, England.
   The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Church, 33 Mercer St., Princeton.
   Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York.
   Arrangements are by Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, Princeton.
Dorothy E. Warren

Dorothy Ellsworth Warren of Princeton died Thursday at University Medical Center at Princeton after complications from Alzheimer’s disease. She was 92.
   Born in Lyons, she grew up in the South and eventually settled in the Princeton area with her family in the 1920s.
   Mrs. Warren was employed at Lenox Co. for several years before becoming a quality control supervisor at Heinemann Electric Co. in Lawrence for 24 years. After retiring to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., in 1974 with her husband, she returned to Princeton in 2002 to be with her family.
   Mrs. Warren enjoyed golf, tennis, entertaining in her home and car trips. She had a strong religious faith.
   Wife of 50 years to the late William "Jake" Warren, sister of the late Albert, John and Walter Ellsworth and Eleanor Pocino, she is survived by sister Mildred Coughlin of Beaverton, Ore.; nephew Shawn Ellsworth and his wife and daughter, Robbie and Alyssa of Princeton; niece Cheryl Ellsworth of East Windsor; and many other nieces and nephews from the Ellsworth and Warren families.
   A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at Saint David the King Catholic Church, 1 New Village Road, West Windsor. There will be no calling hours.
   Interment will be in Florida.

Vernold R. Miller

PLAINSBORO — Vernold Robert Miller died Monday in Washington Township. He was 24.
   Born in Princeton, he was a former Hightstown resident and graduated from Hightstown High School. He studied computer networking at Cittone Institute, Edison.
   He was previously employed in the food services department of McGraw Hill Corp., East Windsor.
   He is survived by his wife, Tika of Plainsboro; daughters Alirea and Sekpya Miller of Plainsboro; parents Vernold and Mary Miller of Hightstown; sisters and brother-in-law Diane and Harold Kirby of Philadelphia and Daisey and Keila Campbell, both of Trenton; brother Andre Campbell of Trenton; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
   The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Anderson Funeral Service, 300 N. Willow St., Trenton.
   Interment will be at Colonial Memorial Park, Hamilton.
   Calling hours are 9 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
