Obituaries for week of Feb. 5

Joseph Peter
   Joseph Peter, 78, died Jan. 27 at the St. Francis Medical Center.
   Born in Miedzylesie, Poznan, Poland, Mr. Peter lived in London for seven years before moving to Trenton in 1957. He served in the Polish Forces under British Command with the Polish Resettlement Corps in England.
   He retired in 1991 as a Blue Seal boiler operating engineer for the state at the State House Complex after 25 years of service. Mr. Peter was previously employed at the Thermoid Corporation.
   He was a member of the St. Stanislaus Golden Agers and was an area bingo player.
   Son of the late Florian and Franciszka Altman Peter, husband of the late Margaret J. Carr Peter, father of the late Mary Peter Morawski, he is survived by his grandson, James Morawski of Lawrenceville; his sister, Veronika Adamek in Poland; two nieces in Poland; his nephew, Raymond Proca of Manchester; and special friends, Stanley and Maureen Sobun of Bordentown.
   The Funeral was Saturday from the Winowicz Funeral Home.
   Funeral Liturgy was Saturday in St. Stanislaus Church.
   Burial was in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

Edward Osvai
   Edward A. Osvai, 81, died Jan. 26 in the University Medical Center at Princeton.
   Born in Trenton, he resided in Lawrenceville for the past 30 years.
   He was a supervisor for the New Jersey Department of Health in Trenton for 34 years, retiring in 1984.
   He was a communicant of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Princeton.
   Mr. Osvai was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of VFW Post 5700 in Trenton and the American Legion. Mr. Osvai was also a member of Trenton Cyrus Lodge 5, F & AM, Crescent Temple Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine in Trenton and the Princeton Shrine Club.
   Surviving are one sister, Agnes Bacso of Columbus; nieces, nephews; and his friend, Hazel White of Franklin Park.
   Funeral services were Friday at the Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick.
   Interment followed in the Princeton Cemetery, Princeton.
Florence Russo Niewiadomski
   Florence Russo Niewiadomski, 79, died Jan. 29 at Crestwood Manor in Whiting after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
   Born in Kelayres, Pa., she was formerly of Bayonet Point, Fla., before moving back to Hamilton Square 10 years ago. She was employed with the Lawrence Township School District for 22 years as a kitchen supervisor at the Slackwood Elementary School.
   She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, volunteered at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton and was a member of Beacon Woods Association in Bayonet Point, Fla.
   Daughter of the late Rose (Perna) and Peter Russo and wife of the late Joseph E. Niewiadomski, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda R. and David Larson of Hamilton Square; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Edward J. and Shelly Niewiadomski of Brick; her grandchildren, Eric D., Jason J. and Amy Larson and Laura R. and Scott E. Niewiadomski; two brothers and a sister-in-law, John Jr. and Suzanne Russo of Lawrenceville and Sandy Russo of Kelayres; and several nieces and nephews.
   Funeral services were Monday from the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square.
   Funeral Mass was from Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, 3816 E. State St. Ext., Mercerville.
   Interment followed in Princeton Memorial Park, Robbinsville.

William Grala
   William J. Grala, 78, died Friday at Capital Health System at Mercer.
   Born in Trenton, he was a parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church and a graduate of Trenton Catholic High School, Class of 1943. He was a lifelong resident of the city until moving to Lawrenceville last year.
   He was the owner of Bill’s Grocery on Second Street in South Trenton for over 25 years. Later, he was employed in the business office at Trenton State Prison until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans, Holy Cross Post 417, and a charter member of the Colonial Sportsman’s Club in West Amwell Township.
   During World War II, Mr. Grala served as a PFC in the U.S. Army, Company C, 328th Infantry, 25th Division. He served his entire tour in the European Theater, landing on Normandy Beach three days after D-Day. He was the recipient of three major battle stars, including one for the Battle of the Bulge.
   Youngest child of the late Katherine Lenarski Grala and Peter Grala of Trenton, he was predeceased by his sisters Bertha Michniewski, Helen Davis and Lillian Halak Stec and his brothers, Joseph and Chester Grala.
   In addition to his wife, Anna Bodnar Grala, he is survived by his four children and their spouses, Karen and Joseph Steffanie of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., Janet and Charles Snyder of Newtown, Pa., Carl and Kelly Grala of Bordentown and Clare and Robert Radice of Pennington.
   Mr. Grala is also survived by seven grandchildren, William Steffanie, Leah and Julia Snyder, Caroline and Samuel Grala, Megan and Trevor Radice; and many nieces and nephews.
   The Funeral was Tuesday from the Winowicz Funeral Home, Adeline and Beatty Streets. Funeral Liturgy was Tuesday in the Church of the Holy Cross.
   Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery.
   Memorial contributions are to be made to the Holy Cross Renovation Fund, 201 Adeline St., Trenton, NJ 08611.
Frank Supel
   Frank J. Supel, 76, died Saturday at the Capital Health System Fuld Campus.
   Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong Trenton and Lawrenceville resident.
   He was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served with the Naval Construction Battalion during World War II in the Pacific region.
   He retired in 1990 after 22 years service at the Trenton State College and was previously employed for 20 years at Trenton Pottery.
   He was a 56-year member of the American Legion, North Trenton Post 458 and very active on many of the Legion committees as well as with their weekly bingo.
   Mr. Supel was an usher at St. Hedwig Church especially at the Sunday 8 a.m. Polish Mass and he was a member of the St. Hedwig’s bingo committee.
   Son of the late Joseph and Rozalia Szafan Supel, brother of the late Shirl Tramontana and Helen Gardner.
   He is survived by his wife of 54 years Eleanor P. Milacki Supel of Lawrenceville; his daughter and son-in-law, Linda M. and David Balogh Sr., of Marlboro; two grandchildren, Krista Balogh and David Balogh Jr.; three sisters and 2 brothers-in-law Ann Strycharz of Trenton, Jean and Dom Locane of Hamilton Township, Frances and Peter Messina of Las Vegas, N.V.; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Joseph Supel of Trenton, Edward Supel of Trenton, John and Irene Supal of Trenton; and many nieces and nephews.
   The funeral was Wednesday from the Winowicz Funeral Chapel, 865 Brunswick Ave., Trenton.
   Funeral Liturgy was Wednesday in St. Hedwig Church, Trenton.
   Burial was in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery Ewing Township.

Veronica Durling
   Veronica C. Krecicki Durling, 83, died Saturday at the Capital Health Systems Fuld Campus.
   Born in Trenton, she was a lifelong Trenton and West Trenton resident. She retired in 1983 as supervisor of the Workman’s Compensation Department at New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company in West Trenton after 23 years service. She was also an expert tailor and seamstress in the local area.
   She was a member of the Hopewell Valley Country Club.
   She was the daughter of the late Vincent and Stella Czyzewski Krecicki and wife of the late Leon M. Durling.
   She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Caroline V. and David Dailey of West Trenton; two sons, Earl S. Durling of West Trenton and Dennis I. Durling of West Trenton; four grandchildren, Christine and her husband Leonard Vellucci of Langhorne Pa., David and his wife Gail Dailey of Frisco, Texas, Marc Durling of Lawrenceville and Chad Durling of Lawrenceville; her great-granddaughter, Emma E. Vellucci; her sister, Jean Warren of West Trenton; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Andrew and Jane Krecicki of Nokomis, FL and Vincent Krecicki of Danbury, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews.
   The Funeral will be held 8 a.m. today (Thursday) from the Winowicz Funeral Chapel, 865 Brunswick Ave., Trenton.
   Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 9 a.m. today (Thursday) in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church with Father Ralph W. Stansley officiating.
   Burial will be in the Good Sheppard section of Fountain Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Ewing Township.
