Biomedical showcase
In an effort to create more opportunities for academic and industrial collaboration in the ever burgeoning field of biomedical engineering, the Biotechnology Council of New Jersey is sponsoring the state’s first-ever Biomedical Engineering Showcase.
The event, titled, "Bridging the Gap Between Industry and Academia," is also sponsored by the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Rutgers University and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
The showcase will feature workshops on several topics including, intellectual property basics for researchers, business formation and incubation and case studies on university spin-outs, as well as exhibits from more than 25 industrial and academic organizations.

Continuity planning
Does your company need to develop a business continuity plan or disaster plan, but you don’t know where to start?
The American Red Cross of Central New Jersey may be able to help.
The organization is offering a workshop title, "Everything You Wanted to Know About Business Continuity Planning."
Guest speakers will include Dennis Durra, duty emergency manager for the Bureau of Emergency & Environmental Response, NJ Dartment of Human Services, and Joe Flach, managing director of Eagle Rock Alliance, Ltd., an indendent management consulting firm.

Morale booster
What do fish have to do with company morale? More than you might think according to best-selling author Harry Paul.
Mr. Paul, best-selling co-author of Fish!, Fish! Tales and Fish! Sticks will lead a one-day conference called, "Fish! A Remarkable Way to Boost Morale, Improve Customer Satisfaction and Impact Results" at Mercer County Community College.
The conference is inspired by Seattle’s Pike Place Fish Market, where fishmongers bring enthusiasm and a sense of accountability to work everyday despite poor working conditions. Participants will discover how to create a more rewarding workplace and motivate others to do their personal best at work.
The event will also include another presentation on Customer Service and Web sites as well as a panel discussion on customer service methods that work.
