Back to school

   Thursday, Feb. 12 — The spring semester "Back to School Night" at Bordentown Regional High School is slated at 7 p.m. at the high school.
   The program is designed to provide parents with the opportunity to meet teachers and become informed about the courses their child is taking. Parents will follow their child’s abbreviated schedule. Guidance counselors, supervisors and administrators will be available to provide assistance and answer questions.

Academy Theatre

   Friday, Feb. 13 and Saturday, Feb. 14 — "Love is in the Air: A Valentine Song Cycle" at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12.50.
   Friday, Feb. 20 through Sunday, Feb. 22 — "A Night In Camelot: An Immersion Theatre Experience" at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $40 and include dinner and the show.

Sacramental anointing

   Saturday, Feb. 14 and Sunday, Feb. 15 — Sacramental anointing of the sick will be offered at the regular weekend Masses on Feb. 14 at 5 p.m. and Feb. 15 at 9 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, 2489 Monmouth Road, Jobstown.

Breakfast event

   Sunday, Feb. 15 — Holy Assumption Parish Holy Name Society presents its all-you-can-eat breakfast featuring eggs, potatoes, pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee at Holy Assumption Church, McGrath Hall, 1290 Hornberger Ave., Roebling, from 8:30 to 11 a.m.
   Adults eat for $5, senior citizens 65 and older eat for $4, children 6 to 12 eat for $3, and children 5 and under eat free.
Blood drives

   Tuesday, Feb. 17 — The American Red Cross is holding an open blood drive at the Knights of Columbus-Florence, Holy Assumption School, 1238 Hornberger Ave., McGrath Hall, Roebling, from 2 to 7 p.m.
   Thursday, Feb. 26 — The Community Blood Council of New Jersey blood drive at Mt. Moriah Lodge, The Masonic Temple, is slated from 5 to 9 p.m. at 121 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown.
   It is open to the public. If you donate a unit of blood, you will receive free coverage for any blood needs you might have for the period of one year through the Masonic Blood Bank. ABWA meeting

   Tuesday, Feb. 17 — The Burlington County Chapter (BCCC) of the American Burlington Business Women’s Association (ABWA) will hold the monthly dinner meeting at Lamberti’s Cucina, 1643 State Highway (Route 38), Mt. Holly. Cost is $20; call Lori Nestel at 265-1593 for details.

Historical society

   Wednesday, Feb. 18 — The Springfield Township Historical Society will hold a meeting at the Springfield Township municipal building at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Verner will give a presentation on Oakwood, a national historic home.
Trash or treasure

   Friday, Feb. 20 and Saturday, Feb. 21 — The Trinity United Methodist Church, 339 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown will hold the monthly sale on the second floor of the education building from 9 a.m. to noon. A half-price sale on clothing, books and cookbooks, baskets, suitcases, puzzles, and clearance items will be featured.
Clothing drive



   Wednesday, Feb. 25 through Friday, Feb. 27 — A clothing drive will be held on Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at Holy Assumption School in Roebling. Please bag items and drop off behind the school at McGrath Hall. Used clothing, shoes, purses, soft linens and stuffed animals are accepted.
Kidsafe ID cards

   Saturday, Feb. 28 — Bordentown Chiropractic Clinic will provide free Kidsafe ID cards to children of all ages from noon to 3 p.m. at Papps Bowling Alley on Route 130 in Bordentown. The cards are digital, full-color, plastic cards with 30 unique age-specific themes for kids to choose from.
   The card meets the recommendation of The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, providing a resource with a head and shoulders photo, and personalized information that can be immediately used in the event it is needed. Free bowling and face painting will be featured. Call 298-9820 for details.
Roast beef supper

   Saturday, Feb. 28 — Hedding Methodist Church in Bordentown will hold the annual roast beef supper with seatings at 4:30 and 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids and must be reserved at 324-0729. Profits benefit the church’s mission program.
Library programs

   The Burlington County Bordentown Branch Youth Services Department is offering a variety of programs in March. Registration begins two weeks before the date of the program.
   The chess program meets every Wednesday at Clare Estates at 3:45 p.m. All ages are welcome. Bring your own chess set.
   Tuesday, March 2 — "Let’s Go Fly a Kite" at 10:30 a.m. Kids 3 to 5 will celebrate windy weather with songs, stories and a highflying craft.
   Tuesday, March 9 — "Let’s Go Fly a Kite" at 6:30 p.m. Kids 4 to 7 will celebrate windy weather with stories and a highflying craft.
   Tuesday, March 16 — Toddler Time "Windy Weather" at 10:30 a.m. Toddlers 18 to 36 months are invited to "feel the wind" with songs, stories and a craft.
Autism benefit

   Saturday, March 6 — Connor P. Casey Foundation for Autism second annual "Blarney Benefit for Autism" will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Bordentown Elks Lodge.
   Cost is $30 per person and includes Irish buffet, open bar, DJ, Irish band, Irish auction, 50/50, and surprises. All proceeds go to the Eden Institute for Early Intervention Scholarships.
Drama ministry

   Sunday, March 7 — Trinity United Methodist Church, 339 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown, will present Jim Hughes in the drama "Thomas" at 10:30 a.m.
   Mr. Hughes wrote, sings and portrays the message of Thomas the disciple. The public is welcome. Free will offerings will be taken.
Fish fry

   Friday, March 12 — Holy Assumption Parish of Roebling will hold a fish fry on Friday nights during Lent from 5:45 to 7:15 p.m. at McGrath Hall.
   Menu is half-pound flounder, or six fantail shrimp, two deviled crab cakes for $8; combo platter for $9. Entrees include fries, coleslaw, cocktail and/or tartar sauce.
Jazz and tap

   The Ladies Auxiliary of the Chesterfield Hose Company is sponsoring two six-week adult jazz and tap classes at the Chesterfield Firehouse on Route 528 in Chesterfield on Tuesday nights. Learn a choreographed Broadway number and get exercise; no dance experience required.
   • Class I — March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, and April 6.
   • Class II — April 13, 20, 27, May 4, 11, and 18.
   • Jazz class — 7:30 to 8:15 p.m. for $60.
   • Tap class — 8:15 to 9 p.m. for $60.

B.O. E. candidates

   The deadline for filing nominating petitions to run for positions on the Springfield Township Board of Education is Monday, March 1 at 4 p.m. The election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 20.
   Prospective school board candidates can obtain a candidate kit at the local school district board office, 2146 Jacksonville Road, Jobstown. The kit includes information about the legal qualifications for candidacy, campaign procedures, and the role of the school board member. Information about the New Jersey School Ethics Act, important dates in the school election process, and briefing sessions for school board candidates is also included.
Historical society

   The Roebling Historical Society is in the process of making designs for exhibits at the museum. If you are holding items for the museum, now is the time to release them to us so we can start creating designs for display. Call 499-7632 to make arrangements.

Garden club

   Saturday, May 15 — The Roebling Garden Club is sponsoring a bus tour to Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, Pa. See millions of flowering bulbs, perennials, flowering trees and shrubs, irises and more on the 1,050-acre Dupont Estate.
   Sixteen indoor glass conservatories are filled with blooms. The $35 cost includes round-trip luxury bus transportation, admission to the gardens and lunch at Longwood’s Cafe. Remit payment to Roebling Garden Club, 20 Fourth Ave., Roebling, NJ 08554.

St. Paddy’s Run

   The Bordentown Education Foundation and the Bordentown Rotary Club will hold a St. Patrick’s Day 5K Run and 2-mile Fun Walk to benefit the education of Bordentown public school children. The events will take place on Saturday, March 13 at Clara Barton School.
   The fun walk will start at 8:45 a.m. and the 5K run will begin at 9:30 a.m. Cash awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group. Age groups include under 13, 14 to 17, 18 to 21, 22 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69 and 70 and older.
