The family of Alonna Lougee would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to the Middletown Policemen’s Benevolent Association Local 124. Recently, they held their 40th annual PBA ball and gift auction. This year, all the proceeds from the gift auction were donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Alonna Lougee’s name.
We wish to thank all those who helped with the organization of this tremendous undertaking. Many people gave of their time in collecting gifts, organizing the gifts, and setting everything up the day of the ball. Many local businesses and friends of Alonna were generous in donating gifts and, although there are too many to name, we would like to thank them also.
Through the efforts of many giving people and the generosity of everyone who attended the ball, the Middletown PBA Local 124 donated $7,000 to help find a cure for juvenile diabetes.
This special occasion was most memorable and meaningful. Ironically, the date of the ball marked Alonna’s three-year anniversary of being diagnosed with juvenile diabetes when she was 31/2 years old.
Because of their choice to raise money for juvenile diabetes research and their large donation, the Middletown PBA has helped researchers move one step closer to creating a world free of diabetes and its complications. Alonna will always be reminded of the outpouring of kindness and generosity of the PBA and all those who helped in some special way.
