Elizabeth "Betsy" Poinsett of Allentown was recently honored by the Monmouth County Board of Freeholders and the Monmouth County Historical Commission for her longtime service to the community. Poinsett recently retired from the commission after "13 years of extraordinary service in historical endeavors to preserve the county’s rich heritage," said Freeholder Theodore Narozanick.

The PRC Group, West Long Branch, was recently named a recipient of the 2003 Builders Employing Associate Members (BEAM) Award. The award is given by New Jersey Shore Builders Association to encourage builder members to use the goods and services offered by associate members and to recognize one builder each year that best represents the teamwork between builders and associate members.

Steven Kaye, president of PRC, accepted the award at the annual awards dinner. This marks the second time PRC has received the award, first receiving it in 1996. Kaye is the second generation of his family to lead the PRC Group. He is chair of the New Jersey Shore Builders Political Action Committee.

The PRC Group is a real estate company and service provider developing communities throughout the state. Its current local communities are in Millstone, Colts Neck, Tinton Falls, Freehold and Manalapan.

AXA Advisors will present a seminar titled "Long-term Care Insurance: Can You Afford to Be Caught Unprepared?" at the Marlboro Library from 7-8:30 p.m. March 9. The library is located at Wyncrest Drive and Library Court.

The speakers will be Bob Roman and Eric Parets. Roman, who specializes in retirement planning, has been a member of the Marlboro community for 23 years and received a master of business administration degree from the University of Virginia. Parets, Roman’s associate, is also a longtime Marlboro resident. He has been in financial services for more than 20 years and has earned a Long-term Care Insurance Strategist designation by demonstrating proficiency in long-term care planning, taxation and product design.

Freehold Raceway Mall, Freehold Township, will present its annual three-day Spring Landscape and Exterior Design Show from March 12-14. Lawn and landscape design displays will be featured, along with exterior home products and information from area and national professionals. The event will be staged throughout the mall’s main concourse areas and is open to the general public at no cost.

Western Monmouth Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly general meeting 8:30 a.m. March 25 at the chamber office, 17 Broad St., Freehold. Guest speaker Gregory E. Carroll, local veterans employment representative of the New Jersey Department of Labor, will discuss the New Jersey Department of Labor One-Stop system and also present an overview of the Uniformed Services Employment Readjustment Rights Act.

The Women in Business Committee will present "Your Image, Tailored for Success!" from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 16 at Ferrari’s Restaurant, 3475 Route 9 north, Freehold Township. Guest speaker will be Sandi Kaufman, president and founder of StyleWorks, an image consulting company in New Jersey and New York. Through a variety of techniques designed to create positive changes, Kaufman aims to help fine-tune and finesse a person’s overall image. She also works with cancer centers, widows of Sept. 11 and the U.S. Army.

The Institute of Management Accountants will hold its next meeting at 6:15 p.m. March 10 at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters, 125 Symmes Drive, Manalapan.
