Mr. Frudden, 83, of Applewood Estates, Freehold Township, died March 4 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had lived in Millstone for 73 years before moving to Freehold five years ago. A retired farmer and egg broker, he was very active for many years as a 4-H Club member and leader. He was a member and former trustee of the Allentown United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Millstone Township Board of Education. An avid bowler, he was involved in several bowling leagues and had also been active at Applewood in both the choir and the woodworking shop, as well as in Seniors First. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Norma Frudden; four daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Gene Cottrell of Randolph, Teddi and Dwayne McLeskey of August, Ga., Cathy and Jack Reppy of East Windsor, and Debby and Mark Preston of the Clarksburg section of Millstone; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the Allentown United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Merton Steelman officiating. Cremation was private. Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown, was in charge of arrangements. Concetta Palmieri

Mrs. Palmieri, 91, of Manalapan died March 5 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived in Howell before moving a year ago to Manalapan, where she was a communicant of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church. A homemaker, Mrs. Palmieri was predeceased in 1980 by her husband, Frank. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Ann of Englishtown; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Marie and Cipriano Rivieccio of Jackson, Dolores Zwirz of Mahopac, N.Y., and Linda and Steven Elias of Freehold; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Grace Farino of the Bronx, N.Y.; and a sister-in-law and her husband, Lucy and William Sforza of North White Plains, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Thomas More Church, followed by interment at St. Denis Cemetery, Hopewell Junction, N.Y. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.

Robert John McCarthy

Mr. McCarthy, 76, of Howell, died March 2 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Yonkers, N.Y., he had lived there before moving in 1968 to Howell, where he was a parishioner of the Church of St. Veronica, Howell. A U.S. Navy veteran who had served during World War II and the Korean War, he was a sales manager for Sea-Land Inc. for 21 years, retiring in 1987. Prior to that, he was a sales representative for Milwaukee Railroad. He was a member of the Benevolent & Protective Order Elks, Lodge No. 534, Manasquan; the Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC), Tinton Falls; Special Children, Sea Girt; and the Howell Senior Citizens. Member and treasurer of St. Marks special needs catechism class, Sea Girt, he also volunteered at the Howell election polls. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Joanne B. Bergin McCarthy; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin John and Aletha McCarthy of Sand Point, Idaho; two daughters, Kathleen McCarthy of Howell, and Colleen McCarthy-Branti of Point Pleasant Beach and her companion, William Kelsey; and five grandchildren. A funeral Mass was offered at the Church of St. Veronica, followed by interment at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown. C.H.T.
