Oil painter Ellen A. Gavin will demonstrate her artistic skills to members of the Suburban Artist Guild (SAG) at 2 p.m. on March 12 at the East Brunswick Library, 2 Jean Walling Civic Center.
Gavin is an accomplished artist who has won many awards throughout her career. Her current home is the Green Boots Studio-Glasstown Arts District, Millville.
An exhibit featuring the works of 36 SAG artists is going on through the end of March at the East Brunswick Library. The works include watercolors, oils, pastels, acrylics, mixed media, colored pencil and charcoal drawings.
A reception for the joint SAG exhibit will be held from 2-4 p.m. on March 21 at the library. The public will have an opportunity to meet the artists and discuss their views on the painting process.
The guild is an informal organization that provides a supportive environment for artists living in the Central New Jersey area. Since its inception in the late 1960s, SAG has focused on promoting the arts to the public and on providing instruction and helping artists to exchange ideas and become more knowledgeable in the technical, theoretical and historical aspects of art.
The group meets at 2 p.m. on the second Friday of the month in the East Brunswick Public Library, Jean Walling Civic Center. For more information, call (732) 238-0800 or (732) 254-3113.
