A North Main Street business owner reported a thief had stolen items from his unlocked vehicle between 7 a.m. and 10:15 a.m., March 1. A Sony digital camera valued at $300, black Nike sunglasses valued at $150 and gasoline credit cards for Getty, Mobil and Shell were taken.
A 1996 Toyota that had been reported as stolen was recovered at Adesa Auto Auction on March 1. New York police, who had listed the vehicle as stolen, were notified.
A South Main Street resident reported a set of keys had been taken from her residence over the night of Feb. 29 to March 1.
The black leather key holder had been kept in a desk in her bedroom and contained five or six keys, including one to her apartment and one to her post office box. The resident did not report any signs of a break-in to the apartment.
A Camplain Road resident reported on March 1 the theft of a $2,000 computer that UPS allegedly delivered on or about Feb. 11.
The parcel service reported leaving a replacement computer form Gateway Computers on the front porch of the home since no one was present.
The co-owner of Kay Electric on South Main Street reported a large amount of scrap copper coil and aluminum frames were stolen from the rear outside area of their building at 1:11 p.m., March 3.
Estimated value of the missing items was set at $350.
A 1998 Toyota that had been reported stolen from Paterson was found at Adesa Auto Auctions on North Main Street at 12:51 p.m., March 3.
Paterson police were notified.
A large "no parking" sign was reported stolen from a South Main Street parking lot at 1:07 p.m., March 3.
Police noted someone had cut the metal legs for the sign. The sign was valued at $60.
A Flemington resident reported on March 3 that property had been removed from her unlocked 1999 Plymouth Neon when it was parked in the cinema lot on North Main Street on Feb. 29.
Missing was her wallet containing her birth certificate, Social Security card, miscellaneous papers, a Walkman and a make-up case. The stolen items were valued at $100.
Vincent Yap, 40, of Hillsborough was charged with driving while intoxicated after police responded to a four-car accident on South Main Street at 6:17 p.m., March 3.
Mr. Yap was released after the charge was filed, and his vehicle was impounded.
Two minor injuries were reported in the accident; both were treated at the accident scene.
Chester Gajkowski Jr., 53, of Bound Brook was charged with DWI after a clerk at Cyburt’s Liquors on South Main Street reported an intoxicated customer attempting to drive away from the store at 2:49 p.m., March 5.
Mr. Gajkowski was released, pending an appearance in court.
A Manville resident found a brown leather tri-fold wallet on Duke Parkway near North First Street at 8:44 a.m., March 6. The wallet contained a Republic of Costa Rica ID card belonging to Jose Antonio Fonseca, several business cards and miscellaneous papers. The wallet remains unclaimed.
Ignatius Ruzbarsky, 43, was charged with violating a temporary restraining order, after police said he entered a Valerie Drive residence during the night of March 5.
Mr. Ruzbarsky was also charged with fourth-degree criminal trespassing and contempt of court.
Mr. Ruzbarsky was released on $2,000 bail, pending a court appearance.
A Somerville resident reported damage to his gray 2000 Nissan which was parked in the Marketplace lot behind Somerset Valley Bank on Main Street at 4:26 p.m., March 6.
An estimated $250 in damage was done to the bumper on both sides of the license plate and frame. Police said a bicycle may have hit the car, due to the type and location of the damage.
Michael Lobello, 27, of Hillsborough was charged with DWI after police stopped the vehicle he was driving at Dakota Street and South Third Avenue at 2:05 a.m., March 7.
Mr. Lobello was released to his wife, pending an appearance in court.
A South Main Street resident reported her Mitsubishi Eclipse was keyed on the passenger side door sometime between 10 p.m., March 6, and 7:30 a.m., March 7. No estimate of the damage to the vehicle was made.
