Edward Wysocki

Edward Wysocki of Princeton died Sunday at N.J. Veterans Memorial Home, Menlo Park. He was 85.
   Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a Frenchtown resident before moving to Princeton in 1972.
   He was an insurance agent with Prudential Insurance Co. in Somerville for 35 years.
   He was a charter member of Frenchtown American Legion Fidelity Post 113 and served in the Legion over 50 years as a post officer, post commander, county commander and county officer. He was state commander 1960-1961 and national vice commander 1961-1962.
   An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he served in the 5th Air Force for 33 months in New Guinea.
   Mr. Wysocki was a 1936 graduate of Frenchtown High School.
   He enjoyed traveling.
   Son of the late Walter and Katherine Wysocki, he is survived by his wife of 59 years, Beatrice Bartleman Wysocki; son and daughter-in-law Douglas and Linda Wysocki of New Paltz, N.Y.; daughter Evelyn Wysocki of Princeton; brothers Raymond Wysocki of Maine, Robert Wysocki of South Carolina and Richard Wysocki of Maryland; and granddaughter Sara Wysocki.
   The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at W.E. Johnson Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township.
   Visiting hour is 12:30 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
   Burial will be in Frenchtown Cemetery, Frenchtown.

David C. Savage of Princeton died Friday at the University Medical Center at Princeton. He was 80.
   He developed the Cuyler Road and Deer Path area homes in Princeton. Together with Herbert Kendall, his partner, they built the Kendall Park housing development in South Brunswick.
   Before moving to New Jersey, he worked with the team that planned and built the United Nations building in New York City. He was a graduate of the University of Virginia.
   An avid golfer, he was a member of Springdale Golf Club.
   Father of the late Michael Savage, he is survived by his wife of 50 years, Naomi Savage; daughter Lourie Campbell; and grandchildren Spencer Campbell and Max Ray Savage.

MONTGOMERY — Edward David Herbert died Thursday in Old Bridge. He was 44.
   He was president of Pinnacle Materials, Inc., of East Brunswick, a sand, soil and stone aggregate company co-founded by his father in 1948 and originally known as Herbert Sand Co.
   He and his sister were officers in several family-owned affiliate companies.
   He was a member of the Phi Theta Fraternity and the East Brunswick Chamber of Commerce.
   He was a lifelong member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in East Brunswick.
   Born in New Brunswick, he was a 1977 graduate of East Brunswick High School and received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa., in 1981.
   Son of the late Daniel H. and Eloise Rajek Herbert, he is survived by his wife of 14 years, Ava Kojko Herbert; sister and brother-in-law Christine H. and Paul Yackman; brother Daniel H. Herbert Jr.; brother-in-law Robert Kojko; mother-in-law Leondina Kojko; nephew Daniel Paul Yackman; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
   The funeral will be 9 a.m. today at Rezem Funeral Home, 457 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick.
   A service will follow at 10 a.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church, East Brunswick.
   Burial will be at Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan.

ARDEN, N.C. — Lulu Augusta Poorbaugh Hinkel died Friday at Crescent View Retirement Center. She was 98.
   A native of Meyersdale, Pa., she was a Princeton resident from 1940 to 1978.
   Mrs. Hinkel was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Asheville and a member of Presbyterian Women for Life.
   Daughter of the late James and Susan Elnora Muhlenberg Poorbaugh and wife of the late Herbert Charles Hinkel, who died in 1978, she is survived by daughter and son-in-law Mary Lou and Robert McDonald of Sun City West, Ariz.; son James Calvin Hinkel of Arden, S.C.; brother Lee Poorbaugh of Hendersonville, N.C.; grandchildren Kevin and Brian McDonald, Mary Lou McDonald Santo, Nora McDonald MacBryde, Christine Hinkel and Joanne Hinkel; great-grandchildren Colin and Megan McDonald, Stefanie, Kari and Andrew Santo, Claire McDonald and Catherine MacBryde.
   A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. today at Campbell Chapel of First Presbyterian Church, 40 Church St., Asheville, N.C., with the Rev. Albert G. Peery officiating.

NEWARK, Del. — John E. Soete Sr. died Friday at Christiana Hospital, Newark, Del. He was 52.
   He was a former Princeton resident.
   Mr. Soete was employed by Amtrak for more than 28 years and most recently served as a track supervisor in the engineering department.
   Son of the late George W. and Jean Arthur Soete of Princeton, he is survived by his son, Jon E. Soete Jr. of Newark, Del.; sister Elizabeth J. of Evanston, Ill.; and brother James W. of Telford, Pa.
   A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27 at Strano-Feeley Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road, Newark, Del.
   Calling hour is 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Matthew J. Scanlan

WEST WINDSOR — Matthew J. Scanlan died Friday at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia. He was 44.
   Born in Malverne, N.Y., he was raised in Garden City, N.Y., and had resided in West Windsor for the past six and a half years.
   After completing his doctorate, he was a cancer immunologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and then worked at Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research in New York City.
   Son of the late Mary Jane O’Hara Scanlan, he is survived by his father and stepmother, Harry and Beverly Scanlan; wife Cindy Hawke Scanlan of West Windsor; children Kelly and Christopher Scanlan; brothers, Harry, Timothy and Joseph Scanlan; and sister Mary Scanlan.
   Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. today at St. David the King Church, 1 New Village Road, West Windsor.
   Burial will be in St. David Church Cemetery, Wayne, Pa.
   Memorial contributions may be made to an education fund to be established for his children. Send contributions to the family’s home.

Florence Zucker

PLAINSBORO — Florence Zucker died Sunday at the Pavilions at Forrestal. She was 94.
   Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a former resident of Elmhurst, N.Y., and Tamarac, Fla., before moving to the Princeton area three years ago.
   Wife of the late Irving Zucker, she is survived by daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Lawrence Pervin of Princeton and grandsons David and Levi Pervin.
   Services were held Monday with burial in Princeton Cemetery.
   Arrangements were by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing.
