Mrs. Altobelli, 95, of Old Bridge died March 1 in Long Island, N.Y. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Altobelli. Surviving are three sons, Leo Altobelli of the Toms River section of Dover, Frank Altobelli of Linden and John Altobelli of Millstone; a sister, Margaret Ricciardi of Edison; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia section of Woodbridge.
Ruth Wirth Finkelstein
Mrs. Finkelstein, 96, of Edison died March 12 at Brighton Gardens, Edison. She was born in Warsaw, Poland, and lived most of her life in Bayonne before moving to Edison three years ago. Mrs. Finkelstein was a member of Hadassah and was a business and family woman. She is survived by two sons, Andrew of Edison, and Alan of Waldwick; a daughter, Sheila Freeman of Matawan; a brother, Leon; and seven grandchdildren. Funeral arrangements were provided by the Goldstein Funeral Chapel Inc., Edison. Graveside services were held at Baron Hirsch Cemetery, Staten Island, N.Y.
Charlotte S. Anderson
Mrs. Anderson, 87, of the Avenel section of Woodbridge, died March 3 at her son’s home in Rahway. Born in Bayonne, she lived in Avenel for the past 48 years until moving to Rahway about a year ago. Mrs. Anderson was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Perth Amboy. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard O. Anderson, in 2003. Mrs. Anderson is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Ann Anderson, and three grandchildren. Services were held at the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, Woodbridge, followed by a funeral service at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Perth Amboy. Interment was at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
Rosalind Balzar Docs
Mrs. Docs, the former Rosalind Box, 59, of Metuchen died March 4 at home. Born in Elizabeth City, N.C., she moved to New Jersey in 1966. Mrs. Docs graduated from Meredith College, Raleigh, N.C., with a bachelor’s degree in religion, cum laude. She did graduate work at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, and the New Brunswick Theological Seminary. She worked as a sixth-grade teacher in Metuchen before opening ABZ Academy, Metuchen, for preschoolers in 1969. She then became the director of the Community Nursery School of Metuchen from 1996-2003. As a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Metuchen for 34 years, Mrs. Docs served two terms as elder, Bible study leader, and president of Presbyterian Women. She was a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children for 30 years and was a consultant for them since 1996. She was a member of P.E.O. Sisterhood and a former member of the Metuchen Country Club. Mrs. Docs was predeceased by her parents, Russel and Minnie Ferrell Box. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Ernest W., owner of the Docs Agency in Metuchen; her son, Ernest Russell, at home; her daughter, the Rev. Meredith Lynne and her husband, L. O. Gantt II, of Norfolk, Va; her sister, Florence, and her husband, the Rev. Ronald Roughton, of Wilmington, N.C.; her brother-in-law, Albert of Mendham; and two grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, Metuchen. A private cemetery service took place, followed by a memorial service at the First Presbyterian Church.
