Walks, discussions at Hook during March

Gateway National Recreation Area, Sandy Hook, has several programs slated during March.

A "Holly Forest Walk" will take place March 20 at 2 p.m. beginning at the visitor center. An "American Littoral Society Equinox Walk" is slated for March 20 at 7 p.m. beginning at Guardian Park, Fort Hancock. Attendees should bring a flashlight. For information, call (732) 291-0055.

A New Jersey Audubon Society "Spring Walk" is scheduled for March 27 at 9 a.m. beginning at the visitor center. Attendees should bring binoculars.

A tour of the gun Battery at Fort Hancock will be conducted March 28 at 2 p.m. beginning at the Fort Hancock Museum. Reservations are required. The program "Battery Gunnison in World War II" will be presented March 28 from noon-4 p.m. Tours will be given by reenactors who will also discuss the operations of a battery.

Program on IRAs at library March 24

Matawan-Aberdeen Public Library, 165 Main St., Matawan, will present "How to Enhance Your Retirement and Savings Potential with IRAs" March 24 at 7 p.m. The free program will be presented by financial consultant Thomas A. Boland.

The library is starting a book discussion group and will hold an organizational meeting March 25 at 7:30 p.m. No registration is required.

The free program, "Nicotine Addiction and Its Treatment" will be presented March 29 at 7 p.m. "How to Find or Keep a Job in a Dif­ficult Economy" will be presented March 31, and "Educating Consumers in Purchasing or Selling Real Estate" will be April 1. Both the above are free and will be at 7 p.m.
