LETTER: Assemblyman squelching speech

To the editor:
An important hallmark of form of government is freedom of discussion. In last week’s guest column, Assemblyman Wisniewski stated that he will not allow a public hearing on Route 92 until after the environmental impact statement is complete.
The inference here is that the environmental statement may influence South Brunswick’s position on Route 92. But South Brunswick’s citizens have made it clear that they oppose construction of Route 92, regardless of the environmental impact.
I feel that it was unseemly of Assemblyman Wisniewski to use the major portion of his guest column to make gratuitous attacks on state Sen. Peter Inverso and Assemblyman Bill Baroni. I suppose in this democracy that we must grant the Assemblyman his freedom of speech even though he has temporarily muted the voice of the people.
