To the editor:
Assemblyman John S. Wisniewski is quite the hypocrite. He refuses to give the bill to eliminate Route 92 a hearing in the Assembly Transportation Committee because it "would be premature to review the bill given that the federal government is reviewing the project." Why would he then complain, in his Guest Opinion piece last week, that Assemblyman Bill Baroni’s bill to eliminate Route 92 is "political gamesmanship" and claim that Route 92 is "sorely needed." Isn’t that opinion clearly "premature"?
Yes, we residents are indeed "fed up with rising traffic congestion" (to quote Mr. Wisniewski). For that reason, among many others, we do not want to see Route 92 built. Route 92 will increase traffic on Route 1 and in the Kingston area (according to the NJ Turnpike’s own numbers). What part of "Route 92 will increase traffic" is not understood by Assemblyman Wisniewski?
Assemblyman Wisniewski should recuse himself from any hearing on this issue, as a discussion of the Baroni bill must be heard in Trenton as soon as possible.
