Mrs. McCabe, 69, of Howell died March 10 at home. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., she had lived there before moving to Howell 34 years ago. She was a home health aide for Presbyterian Homes, Wall Township. She was a member of the Cornerstone Calvary Chapel, Howell, and the Monmouth County Historical Association. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Leslie L. Gasser of Barnegat, and Amanda S. and Alan Young of Philadelphia; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Keith and Bonnie of Williamsport, Pa., and Lance G. and Brett S., both of Howell; a brother, Nicholas Prodan of Asbury Park; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Doreena Marie Kiefer Meyer
Mrs. Meyer, 34, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., died Feb. 17 at home. Born in Lakewood, she had attended Brick schools and lived in Toms River before moving to Port St. Lucie three years ago. She was a teacher at Fairlawn Elementary School, Fort Pierce, Fla., for one year. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Port St. Lucie. Surviving are her husband of eight years, Gary E. Meyer; a son and daughter, Matthew and Sarah; her mother and stepfather, Sandra and James Wills of Jackson; her father and stepmother, Walter and Linda Kiefer of Brick; a brother, Walter Kiefer of Brick; two stepsisters, Darlene Kasch of Hillsborough and Norene Kiefer of Brick; a stepbrother, Edward Kasch of Brick; two aunts, Donna Chambers and Patricia Chambers; and lifelong friend Lisa Henry. Services will be held at 2 p.m. March 6 at Christ United Methodist Church, Fifth Street and North Lake Drive, Lakewood. Clara Baskerville McGhee
Mrs. McGhee, 74, of Howell died March 11 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She had resided in Freehold for most of her life before moving to Howell in 1983. She was a member of Second Baptist Church, Freehold, and had attended the Freehold area school system. She later attended Patterson Army Community Hospital, Fort Monmouth, through which she became a licensed practical nurse (LPN). She was employed for 48 years at Marlboro State Hospital as an LPN and also served as a shop steward for a union local of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, Freehold. She was a former member of both the St. Mary’s Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star and the Lee B. Gibson Temple No. 1014, Freehold. She was predeceased by her husband, George; her parents, Bertha and Joseph Baskerville; and four sisters. Surviving are two sons, George and Reginald; two daughters, Cheryl Hagood and Adria Gardner; a daughter-in-law, Theresa; two sons-in-law, Alphons Hagood and Henry Gardner; a brother, Eugene Baskerville; four brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Services were held at the Bethel A.M.E. Church, Freehold, followed by entombment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township. Freeman Funeral Homes, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
Caryl Joyce Markwood
Mrs. Markwood, 60, of Howell died March 4 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Jersey City, she had lived in Matawan before moving to Howell in 1989. Prior to retiring in 1975, she was employed by the Eatontown Board of Education as a teacher at the Grant Avenue School. Surviving are her husband, George Markwood; two daughters, Bernadette Russell of Sherwood, Ark., and Laura Wood of North Little Rock, Ark.; and three grandchildren. Anna Young
Mrs. Young, 86, of Jackson, who was known to everyone as "Gram," died March 10 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Born in Old Forge, Pa., she had lived in Old Bridge before moving to Jackson seven years ago. She was employed for 10 years as an assembler for Garden State Mounting, Newark. She was predeceased in 1997 by her husband, Theodore. Surviving are a daughter, Maryann McGovern of Jackson; a granddaughter and her husband, Ann and Bryan Moore of Jackson; a grandson and his wife, John and Lisa McGovern of Freehold Township; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Jackson, followed by interment at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.
