Ignore those phone calls, but watch for mailing

The Manville Police Department is launching its annual fund-raising effort for the Manville Policemen’s Benevolent Association, which sponsors many activities in the community throughout the year.
Donations will be collected through responses in the mail to the group’s yearly mailing.
"People throughout the year ask how they can support us, and this is the time they can do it," Officer Ron Gazaway said.
"We’re approached by different organizations in the community throughout the year asking for support and the fund-raising funds allow us to do so," he said.
Pledges to the group will enable the Police Department to continue to fund activities such as the Community Day, DARE program, Halloween Fright Night, the Cop Card Program, and also will help the officers replenish their sick, death, welfare and general funds.
Anyone interested in donating to the PBA can make a tax-deductible contribution payable to Manville PBA Local 236 and mail it to: Manville PBA 236, PO Box 36, Manville NJ 08835.
The Manville PBA never solicits donations over the telephone and anyone who does so is not affiliated with the organization, Officer Gazaway said.
