On Monday, March 29, the Hopewell Valley League of Women Voters will hold its annual Candidates’ Night debate for Hopewell Valley Regional Board of Education candidates.
The 90-minute dialogue will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Room 107 of Hopewell Valley Central High School, Pennington-Titusville Road, Hopewell Township.
Eight candidates from Hopewell Township and Hopewell Borough are running for three of the nine seats on the regional school board. There are no seats in Pennington Borough up for election this year.
All seats are for three-year terms.
Five of the eight candidates are vying for two Hopewell Township seats: incumbents Kim Newport and Michael Bruno, former school board member and president Pam Crabtree, previous board candidate Mary Ellen Curtin, and newcomer David Moore.
The three Hopewell Borough residents running for the single seat on the board are incumbent Steven Wood, Ed Meredith Jr., and Ben Primer.
Each of the candidates will have an opportunity to make opening and closing statements as well as answer questions from the public. At the close of the program, residents will be able to meet with candidates informally.
The school board/budget election is April 20. Polls are open from 7 a.m.-9 p.m.
