Monmouth County Sheriff Joseph W. Oxley is asking help from local merchants to honor the Sheriff’s Office’s Ident-Adult senior emergency photo identification card program as a valid form of secondary identification. Many seniors no longer carry a driver’s license, and Ident-Adult cards can be invaluable in cashing checks and transferring funds.
Seniors participating in the program receive photo ID wallet cards containing emergency information including medical conditions, allergic reactions, doctors’ information, and phone numbers. During an emergency, the photo identification cards provide critical information that can help save a life.
All cardholders must provide proof of identity, including a Social Security card, Medicare card, valid birth certificate, or passport to be eligible. Identifying documents must be provided in person when the ID cards are created. Since the program’s inception, more than 42,000 seniors have received Ident-Adult cards, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office.
Vendors can obtain a copy of the Ident-Adult card for verification by logging on to http://www.shore.co.monmouth.nj.us/sheriff/senior.asp. For more information, call (732) 294-5901 or log on to www.sheriffoxley.com.
