Whole Earth Center hosts bike skills seminar March 25

The Whole Earth Center is hosting Street Smarts — a League of American Bicyclists’ Bike Skills Seminar — to give adult bicyclists the tips, tools and techniques they need to feel confident and safe while biking on local roads. Street Smarts will be held in the café at the Whole Earth Center on Thursday, March 25 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and will be taught by John Waltz, League of American Bicyclists’ certified cycling Instructor.
There is no charge but pre-registration is recommended as spaces are limited.
Street Smarts will cover basic bike maintenance and emergency repair, choice and use of proper clothing and equipment, principles of traffic law, and riders’ rights. Participants in Street Smarts will be offered the opportunity to sign up for two additional on-road classes. Successful completion of Street Smarts and the two on-road classes earns cyclists the League of American Bicyclists’ Road I Course Certificate.
Street Smarts is being sponsored by the Whole Earth Center. The Greater Mercer Transportation Management Association is subsidizing the cost of the on-road classes so that Street Smarts students can take them for a total of $25, instead of the standard fee of $75. Street Smarts and the on-road classes are for adults only.
The Whole Earth Center is located at 360 Nassau Street. For more information, directions, or to register for Street Smarts, call (609) 924-7429. More information about the League of American Bicyclists is available at www.bikeleague.org.
