In their first game of the season the Metuchen Stars U11 traveling soccer team defeated the Edison Jaguars 7-0 . Edison dominated for the first 15 minutes of the game until right fullback Lucas D’Alfonsi broke up a play and passed the ball up the right wing to Evan Tardosky, who passed it on to center Zach Shampian. Shampian then centered the ball, and Stephen Pasquerello took a solid shot on goal and scored. From that point forward, the Stars put the Jaguars on the defensive. By the end of the first half, Metuchen was winning 4-0. In the second half, the Stars continued to dominate. Tadosky and left wing Dan Hoffman each added goals, while Shampain and mid-fielder Troy Mallory each scored twice. Mid-fielder Sunjay Kumar and right wing Adam Schlitt both managed the ball with great skill, setting up many of the scoring opportunities. With the solid defensive playing of D’Alfonsi, Bryan Peragallo and Anthony Tagliaboshi, goalie Stefan Antosiewicz was able to shut down the Jaguars.
