Students will host flea market

JACKSON — The French, German and Spanish clubs of Jackson Memorial High School have united for a good cause — a fund-raiser.

The students and their advisers have organized a community flea market to be held rain or shine on May 8 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.

"We hope people will put their ‘spring cleaning’ to good use and participate," said organizer Maria Holm. "Hopefully people will resist the urge to pack away those clothes that don’t quite fit in hopes of thinner days to come and instead bring them here. They might be surprised at what they can get for them."

Admission to the flea market is free for buyers, but the clubs hope to raise money by asking for a nominal rental fee from potential sellers. Anyone interested in selling items at the flea market can rent a space to do so.

The cost for tables inside the cafeteria is $10 for an 8-foot table and $7 for a 6-foot table.

The cost for a 6-foot table outside the main cafeteria is $5. For $5 a seller can reserve a space for their own table or blanket.

Sellers can exhibit and sell a car in the school parking lot for a $5 reservation fee.

The clubs are also looking for people who might want to donate items to be sold by club members. Contact Maria Holm at [email protected] to arrange for a convenient pick-up time. For more information about reserving a table at the flea market, contact Maria Holm at [email protected]. You will be sent a form to be filled out and returned to Jackson Memorial High School, 101 Don Connor Blvd. Jackson 08527.
