IT challenges
What does the future hold for the keepers of information technology?
   The New Jersey Technology Council tackles that tough question with its NJ CIO (Chief Information Officer) Conference 2004: the Emerging Role of the CIO in the Recovering Economy.
   The event will include remarks from keynote speaker Clay Nelson, first vice president and lead technologist for Merrill Lynch, who will speak on "Today’s CIO — visionary, corporate leader, doer."
   Also scheduled are panel discussions on topics such as the top issues facing IT professionals in 2004/2005, changes in compliance, how to handle multi-sourcing and the future of IT and the CIO.
   The cost to attend is $80 for NJTC members; $110 for nonmembers.
   Registration is accepted up to 24 hours prior to the event; registrations received after that time will be considered "walk-ins" and processed on-site with a $20 surcharge. For more information visit www.njtc.org.

Help for small business
Running a small business can be time consuming, but an upcoming roundtable event seeks to give entrepreneurs the chance to improve their bottom line while connecting and collaborating with other small business leaders.
   The roundtable, part of the "Business Getting Results" seminar series sponsored by Bartolomei Pucciarelli, LLC — a full service business advisory and CPA firm based in Lawrenceville — will explore the most pressing issues facing today’s entrepreneurs, from marketing and strategic positioning to cash flow management.
   The event will run from 7:45 to 9:30 a.m. and breakfast will be served.

The future workforce
Jeff Stoller, deputy executive director of the John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development at Rutgers University, will speak on "New Jersey’s Future Workforce" at the Princeton Regional Chamber’s monthly membership meeting.
   Mr. Stoller will describe how the Heldrich Center is working with employers, educators and government officials to insure the state’s key industries are able to find the skilled workers they need to operate successfully.
   The meeting will begin with registration and networking at 11:30 a.m.
