Mrs. Legath, 74, of West Long Branch died May 11 at Fairfax Hospital, Falls Church, Va. She resided in Clifton prior to moving to West Long Branch. Mrs. Legath was a communicant of St. Jerome’s Roman Catholic Church, West Long Branch. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred J. Legath, in 1996. Surviving are two daughters, Carol Pennington of Florida and Lois Harris of Virginia; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Valerie Fotheringham Brown
Mrs. Brown of Shadow Lake Village, Red Bank died May 4 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided in Oceanport prior to moving to Red Bank in 1989. She was an executive secretary for several years prior to retirement. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Long Branch. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard W. Brown in 1985. She is survived by a stepdaughter, Annette Boland of Oceanport; two step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. A graveside service was at Glenwood Cemetery, West Long Branch. Joseph F. Hornick
Mr. Hornick, 90, of West Long Branch died April 30 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Boonton, he moved to West Long Branch in 1955. Mr. Hornick was a quality-control manager at JFC Electronics, Morganville section of Marlboro, where he was employed 40 years before his retirement. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a communicant of St. Jerome’s Roman Catholic Church, West Long Branch, where he was a member and former secretary of the Holy Name Society and Nocturnal Adoration Society, and was head usher. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Bakarich; and a brother, John Hornick. Mr. Hornick is survived by his wife of 54 years, Frances Bongarzone Hornick; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Constantinos Passas of Florida; a son, Joseph Hornick of West Long Branch; and two brothers, Michael Hornick of Denville and Martin Hornick of Boonton. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Jerome’s Church, followed by burial at Mount Carmel Cemetery, West Long Branch. Arrangements were by Fiore Funeral Home, West Long Branch.
Edward C. Suozzo
Mr. Suozzo, 76, of Long Branch died May 13 at his daughter’s home in Howell. Born in Long Branch, he was a lifelong resident. Mr. Suozzo was a self-employed salesman. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a parishioner at Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. He was past president of the Long Branch Knights of Columbus Lodge No. 336; a member of IAMA, Long Branch; a member of the Long Branch Elks Lodge No. 742, and a coach for Tri-City Little League baseball. Mr. Suozzo was predeceased by his wife, Irene Walsh Suozzo, in 1997. Surviving are two sons, Joseph C. Suozzo of Lafayette and Nicholas J. Suozzo of Long Branch; two daughters, Kathleen Houlihan of Howell and Theresa Suozzo of Long Branch; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. Interment was at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown. Dorothy F. Muzzi
Mrs. Muzzi, 82, of Long Branch died April 22 at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. She was a lifelong resident of Long Branch. Mrs. Muzzi was a seamstress at L. Podell Co., Long Branch, where she was employed 35 years before her retirement. She was a communicant of Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch, where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, and the Long Branch Seniors Club. She enjoyed time with her family, cooking and sewing. Mrs. Muzzi was predeceased by her husband, Patrick C. Muzzi, in 1982. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frank C. and Marianne Muzzi of Long Branch; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia A. and Dr. Paul Peduto of Red Bank; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Helen Letts of Eatontown; a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Vincent Popo of Long Branch; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. Interment was at Mount Carmel Cemetery, West Long Branch. Emily J. Garrabrant
Mrs. Garrabrant, 97, of Asbury Park died May 13 at Jersey Care Center, Eatontown. Born in Newark, she resided in Tinton Falls for 70 years before moving to Asbury Park in 1993. She was a telephone operator at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, before her retirement. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Wayside Fire Department, and the Wayside Woman’s Club, Wayside section of Ocean Township; the Tinton Falls Senior Citizens; and the Monmouth County Office on Aging. She enjoyed gardening and time with her family. Mrs. Garrabrant was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, William; a son, William; and a daughter, Patricia. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred J. and Marlene of Estes Park, Colo., and George R. and Phyllis of Maxton, N.C.; a daughter, Carol Bennett of Asbury Park; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
