Mr. Maushardt, 24, of Freehold Borough, died May 19 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Red Bank, he was a lifelong resident of Freehold Borough. He was an emergency medical technician (EMT) for Monmouth-Ocean Hospital Service Corp. and also worked part time for Crystal Air Associates Inc., Marlboro. He touched many lives as the captain of Freehold Fire Department’s Goodwill Hook and Ladder Co., Freehold Borough. Surviving are his parents, Linda and William Maushardt of Freehold; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Christine and Charles Mickendrow of Manchester, and Karen Maushardt of Philadelphia and her fiancé, Robert Dember; and two nephews. A funeral service was held at Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. A fire department service was also held.
Mary M. Fay
Mrs. Fay, 70, of Manalapan died May 4 at home. Born in Newark, she had resided in Manalapan for the past 25 years. For more than 30 years, she was employed by Prudential Life Insurance Co., Edison, and more recently, worked as a bus aide for the Manalapan-Englishtown Bus Co., Manalapan. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary (O’Shea) and Edward Fay, and three siblings, Rita Cardone, Edward Fay and William Fay. Surviving is one niece, Michele Cardone of Manalapan. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan, followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Mr. Lindstrom, 67, of Manalapan died May 4 at home after a long battle with emphysema. Born in Jersey City, he had been a longtime resident of Manalapan, and wintered in Clearwater, Fla. He was a member of Teamsters Local No. 701 and was employed at Hermann Services, South Brunswick, and Stern Transport, Wall Township. Mr. Lindstrom served with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the Cpl. Philip A. Reynolds Detachment Marine Corps League, Freehold, and a member and past commander of Molly Pitcher Post No. 434, American Legion, Englishtown. He was a 50-year member of Vasa Order of America, Gothiod Lodge No. 486, Vasa Park, Budd Lake; a former member of the Millhurst Fire Company, Manalapan; and a former manager of the Manalapan Little League. He was active in the Manalapan Junior Football program, was a former manager of the Olde Silver Tavern softball team and former manager of the Millhurst Tavern softball team. Mr. Lindstrom is survived by his wife of 47 years, Arlene Brouillard Lindstrom, and his children, Charles L., Douglas W. and Suzanne, all of Manalapan; and three grandchildren, all of Jackson. Daniel G. Riley
Mr. Riley, of Margate, formerly of Freehold, died May 4. He was an accountant at Brockway Glass Co., Freehold, for 37 years before his retirement. Mr. Riley was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of St. Francis University of Loretto, Pa., where he attended on a basketball scholarship. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Eileen; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Eileen and Stan Dilley of Potomac, Md., Maureen and Don Lilley of Queensbury, N.Y., Cathy and Ed Lonergan of Washington Township, Nancy and Robert Sutor of Margate, and Colleen Riley of Ventnor; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Epiphany Church, Longport, Atlantic County.
Judith M. Cavanaugh
Mrs. Cavanaugh, 61, of Freehold died May 5 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had resided in Toms River for 31 years before moving to the Freehold area six years ago. She began her career as an English teacher, then became a homemaker and most recently worked as an associate for J.C. Penney Co. Inc. at the Freehold Raceway Mall, Freehold Township. She was a member of the Ocean County Mothers of Twins Club since 1974. She was predeceased by her parents, Beatrice and Irving Kaplan, and her stepfather, Clifford Witt. Surviving are three daughters, Nancy Cavanaugh of Toms River, Kelly Meehan of Browns Mills and Kerry Cavanaugh of Freehold; a brother, Daniel Kaplan of Marlboro; a sister, Elissa Kaplan of Bradley Beach; a granddaughter; and two nephews. Florence E. Patterson
Mrs. Patterson, 88, of Point Pleasant Borough died May 6 at Burnt Tavern Convalescence Center, Brick. Born in Howell, she was a lifelong resident. She was a finisher at Active Coat Factory, Freehold, and then an inspector at Precision Filament, also in Freehold. Until her illness, she was an active member of the Bethesda First United Methodist Church, Adelphia section of Howell. She was predeceased in 1970 by her husband, Charles Edward. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, E. Wayne and Betty J. Patterson of Point Pleasant Borough; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at C.H.T. Mr. Curley, 77, of Colts Neck, died May 22 at home. Born in Freehold, he had lived there before moving 50 years ago to Colts Neck, where he was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Prior to retiring 11 years ago, he was employed for 40 years as a plant manager for Delicious Orchards, Colts Neck. He was later a salesman for Holland & McChesney, Freehold. He was predeceased in 1992 by his wife, Pauline Grega Curley. Surviving are a son, George Curley Jr. of New Market, Va.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula C. and Alan Johnson of West Chester, Pa., and Karen J. and Sean Boyles of South Plainfield; and four grandchildren. Nancy Gay Salmon
Mrs. Salmon, 63, of Middletown died May 22 following a long battle with leukemia. Born in Red Bank, she was a lifelong resident of Middletown. She was an employee of the Fabric Tree, retiring in 1983. Prior to that, she worked at Cloth World, Middletown, and Progressive Life Insurance Co., Red Bank. She was a former member of First Baptist Church of Red Bank. Mrs. Salmon is survived by her husband of 45 years, Walter J. Salmon; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Lori Salmon of the Belford section of Middletown; a daughter and son-in-law, Deana and Charles Citro of Manalapan; a brother, Robert M.
