Central Jersey Nursery on Hamilton Road reported the theft of a commercial lawn mower, valued at $7,099, at 5:30 p.m., May 18.
According to the manager, the mower was taken from a display area in front of the shop between 3 p.m., May 16, and 5 p.m., May 18. The manager said the theft was not immediately reported because employees needed to double-check records to make sure the missing lawn mower hadn’t been loaned to a customer.
Joseph Lee, 19, of South Bound Brook was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana at 11:35 p.m., May 14.
The charge came after Mr. Lee’s vehicle was stopped for speeding on Route 206, police said. Police noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle and when Mr. Lee was asked if he had "anything on him," Mr. Lee said he had a pipe, according to police. Police did not find any other items in the vehicle.
Mr. Lee was also charged for driving with a suspended license.
Mr. Lee was released after the charges were processed, pending an appearance in municipal court.
The vehicle Mr. Lee was driving was registered to the mother of a passenger in the vehicle, Dariusz Zagaja, age unknown, of Manville. As a result of the incident, Mr. Zegaja was charged with allowing a driver with a suspended license to operate a vehicle.
