Area communities plan Memorial Day observances

Princeton to hold parade Saturday morning.

   The Memorial Day weekend will be accompanied by a number of formal observances by area communities in honor of the nation’s veterans.
Princeton
   Princeton’s annual Memorial Day Parade will be held Saturday morning on Nassau Street.
   Sponsored by the Spirit of Princeton, the parade kicks off at 10 a.m. at Princeton Avenue and continues on Nassau Street to Princeton Borough Hall.
   A brief memorial service with a keynote address by the parade’s guest marshal, Brig. Gen. William K. Monk III, the deputy commanding general of the 1st Brigade of the 78th Division at Fort Dix, will be held outside the Battle Monument at 11 a.m.
   Local veterans, historical groups and Princeton Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops will participate in the march. The parade will be held rain or shine.
Montgomery
   Montgomery will celebrate Memorial Day 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Montgomery High School auditorium.
   The evening will include performances by the Montgomery High School Band, public speakers and a PowerPoint presentation honoring those who served and sacrificed their lives.
Rocky Hill
   Rocky Hill will hold a Memorial Day celebration 9 a.m. Monday at Panacaro Park near Trinity Church.
West Windsor
   West Windsor plans to commemorate Memorial Day with a parade and ceremony.
   Coordinated by the Township Council, along with the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion groups, West Windsor’s annual parade is scheduled to kick off at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South at 11 a.m. Monday.
   The parade will travel down Clarksville Road to the Municipal Building, where a ceremony will be held inside.
Plainsboro
   Plainsboro Township Committee members plan to observe Memorial Day by placing wreaths at the township’s veterans memorial, located at the Municipal Complex near Plainsboro Road. The observance is scheduled to take place 10 a.m. Monday.
