to highlight Family Fun Day

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP — Once again, families will have an opportunity to spend an afternoon outdoors with their friends and neighbors during the township’s annual Family Fun Day. The June 5 festivities will begin at noon and end after a fireworks display at about 9 p.m.
Held in Michael J. Tighe Park, Georgia Road, the day’s activities will include children’s crafts, games, rides, food and retail vendors. Volunteer firefighters will be conducting fire safety demonstrations and tours of the Fire Safety House.
The fifth annual Freehold Township Auto Show will take place from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Trophies and door prizes will be awarded.
A grand-opening ceremony for the new skate park will be held from noon to 2 p.m.
Heavyweight boxer Gerry Cooney will greet fans and talk boxing from 1-4 p.m. at the Trinity Financial Sports and Entertainment Management Co. booth. New York Giants lineman Carson Dach will be at the booth to meet fans and talk football from 4-7 p.m.
Entertainment will be provided by The Nerds from 1-3 p.m., the Party Dolls from 4-6 p.m. and Dennis Carmell’s Disco Inferno from 7-9 p.m.
Many businesses have made donations to offset the cost of this year’s entertainment. They include David Michael Motor Car of Freehold, Ray Catena Lexus, Millhurst Mills, Poets Square, R.C. Engineering, Freehold Executive Center, Sonnenblick, Parker and Selvers, Toll Brothers, Kneler Family Homes, PJR Construction Company, Concept Engineering, CME-ESP Associates, Laser Save, Iron Mountain Record Management, Centex Homes, Community Bank of New Jersey, Peter J. Saker, Inc., Crest Engineering, Kurtz/Two Rivers Engineering and Kaplan Companies.
The rain date for Family Fun Day is June 6.
