Sailors can help raise more than sails when they participate in The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Leukemia Cup Regatta June 4-6 at the Keyport Yacht Club.
The Southern New Jersey/Shore Region Chapter is looking for sailors to compete in two days of races and help raise funds for the society’s research grants and patient service programs.
The regatta is open to PHRF (Performance Handicap Racing Fleet) and One Design classes with a minimum monohull length of 22 feet. The regatta is a qualifier for the NJORC (New Jersey Ocean Racing Conference) and NJYRA (New Jersey Yacht Racing Association) PHRF A and B championship.
The $120 registration fee includes two tickets to the Mount Gay Rum party on Saturday, goodie bags, shirts, and entrance to the regatta races. Sailors are encouraged to raise additional funds to receive awards and incentive prizes. Additional cocktail party tickets can be purchased for $15 each. Individuals raising more than $7,500 will sail with America’s Cup champion and Volvo Leukemia Cup national chairman Gary Jobson at Captiva Island, Fla., in December.
All registration forms and raised funds must be submitted by the morning of June 5. To register, call the Southern New Jersey/Shore Region Chapter at (732) 591-0370. Other regattas will be held in Beachwood for junior sailors on July 15 and in Cape May from July 23-25.
