Andrew Urciuoli Sr.
Mr. Urciuoli, 82, of Jackson died May 15 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Richmond, Va., he had lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Jackson eight years ago. A World War II Army veteran, he was a distributor for Peerless Liquor Importers, Brooklyn, for 35 years, then prior to retiring, worked for 16 years as manager of Brooklyn’s Carlou Bagels. A member of the Jackson Senior Center, he enjoyed playing pool with his friends. During his earlier years in Brooklyn, he was also a Golden Gloves boxer. He was predeceased by his wife, Rose, and a son, Andrew Jr. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Lucille Urciuoli of Freehold Township; a daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Richard Solomon of Jackson; three brothers, Pat, Carmine and Louis Urciuoli; two sisters, Mary Patteta and Anna Casale; and three grandchildren. Dorothy A. Mahoney
Mrs. Mahoney, 87, of Howell died May 17 at Leisure Chateau Care Center, Lakewood. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived in Howard Beach, N.Y., and East Brunswick before moving to Howell in 1997. Prior to retiring in 1970, for 15 years she was a sales clerk for Gertz Department Store, Jamaica, N.Y. She was a former member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, East Brunswick. She was predeceased in 1975 by her husband, Frank, and in 1997 by a daughter, Geraldine Stanley Milek. Surviving are three daughters, Patricia Pisano of Howell, Kathleen Mahoney Carney of Brigantine and Mary Jean Murin of Lake Hopatcong; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends gathered at St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township, for a Blessing, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, South Brunswick. C.H.T. Angelina M. Crocchiola
Mrs. Crocchiola, 90, of Aberdeen died May 19 at home. Born in Long Island City, N.Y., she resided in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Hazlet prior to moving to Aberdeen 1 1/2 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter Crocchiola in 2002. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Leonor Crocchiola of North Royalton, Ohio; a daughter, Rosann Grasso of Aberdeen; a sister, Josephine Costanzo of Brooklyn; a brother, Louis Natale of Manalapan; and three grandchildren. Thomas F. Healey Sr.
Mr. Healey, 67, of Manalapan died May 19 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Jersey City, he had lived there before moving to Manalapan 36 years ago. He was a communicant of St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro. He was predeceased in 1997 by his wife, Lucille A. Healey, and in 1998 by a daughter, Michele Alexander. Surviving are a son, Thomas F. Healey Jr. of Manalapan; three daughters, Cheryl Shade of Manalapan, Jeralyn Lang of New Egypt and Jacqueline Healey of Freehold; and four grandchildren. Tadeusz Madej
Mr. Madej, 90, of Aberdeen died May 20 at home. Born in Poland, he was a lifelong resident of Aberdeen. He was employed at Atlantic Tile, Keyport. Prior to that, he was employed at Mosaic Tile, Matawan; Lorvorisa, Marlboro; and Helm Tobacco Co., Helmetta, for 19 years. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Mr. Madej is survived by his wife, Zofia G. Madej; three daughters, Halina Klimchuk of Freehold, Sophia Marshall of Hazlet, and Theresa Knoeppel of Aberdeen; two sons, Stanley Madej of Waymart, Pa., and Edward Madej of Jackson; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Church, followed by interment at the parish cemetery, Keyport. The Day Funeral Home, Keyport, was in charge of arrangements.
Edward J. Stein
Mr. Stein, 73, of Englishtown, died May 20 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Born in Cheesequake, he had resided in Matawan before moving to Englishtown 12 years ago. Prior to retiring, he had worked as a heavy equipment operator for Hess Construction Co., Parlin. A Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church, Matawan. He was also a member of Operating Engineers Local 825 for more than 45 years, as well as a member of the Mallard Gun Club, Englishtown. Mr. Stein was predeceased in 1999 by a daughter, Wendy Maynard. Surviving are his wife, Alta Rae Gaub Stein; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jacquelyn and Chuck Carpenter of Jackson and Lyn Stein of North Scituate, R.I.; a brother; five sisters; and a granddaughter. Lorraine Palladino
Mrs. Palladino, 84, of Manalapan, died May 21 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Born in New Hyde Park, N.Y., she had lived in Manalapan for many years. Surviving are two sons, Ronald and John Palladino; a daughter, Patricia Sawyer; two brothers, Frank and Walter Zieniewicz; two sisters, Carol Sedilo and Frances Kowalski; and several grandchildren. Mary A. Hand
Mrs. Hand, 76, of Freehold Township, died May 25 at Bartley Health Care Nursing & Rehabilitation, Jackson. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived there before moving to Freehold Township 10 years ago. A homemaker, she was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township, where she was also a eucharistic minister. She was a former vice president of the CentraState Medical Center Auxiliary, Silvermead Chapter, Freehold Township. Mrs. Hand was predeceased in 1959 by a son, Eugene. Surviving are her husband, Patrick J. Hand; a son, John M. Hand of Stony Point, N.Y.; three daughters, Maureen P. Kenny of Arnold, Md., Eileen M. McLeod of Freehold Township and Kathleen M. Robert Jones
Mr. Jones, 62, of Manalapan, died May 26 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Neptune Township, he had worked in food service for Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He is survived by two brothers, Jay Jones of Manalapan and Eugene Jones of Milton, Mass. Marguerite "Jackie" Gretchel Reid
Mrs. Reid, 94, of Freehold Township, died May 27 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Long Branch, she had lived in Neptune before moving to Silvermead, Freehold Township, in 1969. A homemaker, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Farmingdale; a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star’s Molly Pitcher Chapter; a prior member of the Wall Campers Club; and a former volunteer for the CentraState Medical Center Auxiliary. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence D. "Chubby" Reid, in 1974 and a grandson, Timothy Lisle, as well as a daughter-in-law, Mary Ruth Reid. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Edward J. and Faye Reid of Grandy, N.C., and George D. Reid of Manasquan; two daughters and a son-in-law, Elizabeth M. Lisle of Lakehurst, and Barbara R. and Robert Hurley of Farmingdale; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Joseph T. Martin
Mr. Martin, 91, of Colts Neck, died May 30 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Freehold, he had lived in Marlboro before moving to Colts Neck 39 years ago. Prior to retiring in 1970, he was a truck driver for the state Department of Transportation, where he was employed for 32 years. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colts Neck, as well as a member of the St. Rose of Lima Senior Citizens Club and the AARP. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. Kenneth Ivan Daniels Jr.
Mr. Daniels, 59, of Howell died June 1 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Laconia, N.H., he was employed for 33 years by the Asbury Park Press, Freehold, and was also a consulting mechanic at Wall Stadium, Wall. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Asbury Park. Mr. Daniels was predeceased by his father, Kenneth Ivan Daniels Sr. Surviving are a son and daughter, Kenneth I. Daniels III and Daniella Daniels; his mother, Viola M. Daniels of Howell; and two sisters, Elizabeth J. deVries of Ambler, Pa., and Gertrude A. Cerone of Northridge, Calif. Frieda "Dolly" Federico
Mrs. Federico, 82, of the Lincroft section of Middletown, died May 31 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided in the Morganville section of Marlboro before moving to Middletown 40 years ago. Mrs. Federico was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft, where she was a member and past officer of the St. Ann’s Guild. She was a member of the sewing and knitting club at Luftman Towers, Lincroft. Mrs. Federico was predeceased by her husband, Joseph S. Federico, in 1990; and a brother, Salvador Placanica. Mrs. Dragos, 87, of the Morganville section of Marlboro, died May 4 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Pennsylvania, she had lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Morganville three years ago. A homemaker, she was predeceased by her husband, John Cosgrove, in 1993 and by many brothers and sisters, as she was one of 13 children. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Hogan of Brooklyn; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, John and Esther Hogan of Morganville; and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Flego, 98, of Little Silver died May 7 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Pola, Austria, she survived the 1947 exodus from Yugoslavia during the Ethnic Cleansing of Italians prior to immigrating to the United States. She resided in Brooklyn, N.Y., prior to moving to New Jersey in 1962 and Little Silver in 1979. She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. She was a member of Creative Hands, Shadow Lake Village, Middletown. She was predeceased by her husband, Marcello Flego, in 1975. She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Mario and Amelia Flego of Little Silver, and Fulvio Flego of Farmingdale; two daughters and one son-in-law, Marisa Giusti of Middletown, and Gianna and Santo Puleo of Wading River, N.Y.; a sister, Livia Laurini of Italy; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Robert Bullus
Mr. Bullus, 84, of Manalapan died May 7 at The Manor, Freehold Township. Born in Newark, he had lived in Orange and Bayonne before moving to Manalapan 30 years ago. Prior to retiring in 1983, he was a nuclear power engineer for General Electric Co., New York City, for 37 years. A World War II veteran, he served in the Army Air Force for five and a half years. He was a communicant of St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro, where he served as an usher and was also a member of its bingo committee. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Father McGivney Post, Lincroft; VFW Post No. 4374, Freehold; St. Clement’s Senior Club, Matawan; and the Christian Neighbors of Covered Bridge, Manalapan. He was predeceased in 1957 by a son, Donald. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Ann Bullus; a son, Raymond Bullus of Hanover; a daughter, Melanie Branon of Los Gatos, Calif.; a sister, Joan Elizabeth Smith of South Carolina; and five grandchildren. Stanley Grim
Mr. Grim, 81, of Piscataway, formerly of Freehold, died May 20 at home. Born in Bayonne, he had lived in Freehold before moving to Piscataway 10 years ago. He was a machinist for Marine Aviation, New York City. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he had served in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the United Church of God, Somerset. Mr. Grim was predeceased in 1978 by his wife, Helen Grim. Surviving are a sister, Hope Davis of Mount Laurel; a friend, Dr. Barbara E. Walls of Piscataway; and several nieces and nephews.
