Help for homebound Holocaust survivors

Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Monmouth County has been awarded funds to help the county’s homebound Holocaust survivors.

Thanks to a recent appropriation from the Holocaust Survivors Fund, JF&CS can now subsidize such daily activities as home health care, which may included bathing, dressing, shopping, cooking, light housekeeping, and help with their daily living. A home health aide can arrange for kosher meals delivery — available in most, though not all, areas of Monmouth County — as well as get them to a doctor’s office when necessary.

"When the Jewish Family & Children’s Service finds out about a Holocaust survivor in our area, we immediately contact them in person," said Amy Dorfman of JF&CS. "Our case management services include providing up-to-date information to the survivor and referring them to a whole host of services that may be needed. If they can’t afford the services, we will arrange to take care of major costs for them."

Anyone who has knowledge of a Holocaust survivor who could benefit from these services is asked to call Dorfman at (732) 774-6886 at the JF&CS office in Asbury Park.
