Gertrude D. Markoff, 87, of Monroe, died Friday, July 9, at Castle Senior Living at Forsgate, Monroe, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Gertrude Denenberg in Highland Park on July 18, 1916. Following her marriage to Hyman Markoff, she resided in Hampton, Va. Following the death of her beloved husband, she returned to spend her remaining years in New Jersey.
She is survived by her sister, Hilda Schatzman of Monroe; a granddaughter, Karen Pace of Knoxville, Tenn.; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held Monday, July 12, at Van Liew Cemetery, Ahavas Achim section on Georges Road, North Brunswick. Shiva was observed at the residence of Hilda Schatzman, Monday through Wednesday, July14. Arrangements were by Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick.
