A River Road resident called police to report that two motorcycles were stolen from his workshop overnight at 2:49 p.m. July 6.
The victim told police that between 8 p.m. July 5, and noon July 6, someone had removed two Honda dirt bikes. The victim’s red and white 2004 Honda dirt motorcycle was valued at $1,600. The value of the second one, a red Honda dirt motorcycle not owned by the victim, could not immediately be determined.
A Marshall Road resident contacted police to report that between 2 and 7 p.m. July 8 his gray and yellow Huffy mountain bike was stolen from in front of his residence.
The victim noticed the bike missing at around 7 p.m. The bike, which was 10 years old, was valued at $50.
Hillsborough police and firefighters responded to fire in a construction trailer located in the woods about 500 feet southeast of Steinmetz Road, in the area of Amwell and Willow roads, at 10:10 a.m. July 2.
According to the police report, the fire had fully engulfed an abandoned construction trailer, which had collapsed under the heat. When contacted about the fire, the property owner said the trailer had been placed there years ago by his company and was no longer in use.
Police found cans containing flammable liquids near the trailer and referred the case to the Detective Bureau for further investigation.
A Wertsville Road resident reported a mailbox had been knocked of its post during the night of July 10.
The resident told police that at around 2:30 a.m. he heard a voice say "home run" and then heard a loud bang. His mailbox was valued at $100.
While in the area, police contacted another resident after finding another mailbox knocked to the ground. The mailbox was valued at $50.
A Fairfield Lane resident called police to report that someone had put mustard on her vehicle at 3:05 p.m. July 8.
The victim told police that sometime between 1:30 and 7:30 a.m., someone had put the substance on her green four-door Pontiac Bonneville and written an obscenity on the hood, which was washed off the vehicle.
The victim also told police that her son’s black Ford Mustang, which was parked in the street in front of their residence, had had a small chair placed on its roof. The child chair and toy had earlier been placed on the curb by neighbors along with a sign that said "free," the victim said.
