Joseph Tedeschi and Douglas Buckley were recently awarded the Jim Studley Scholarship by the Howell Intramural Hockey Club. The scholarship, named for one of the founders of the club, recognizes outstanding academic achievement, community involvement and support of the Hockey Club.
Tedeschi is a 2004 graduate of Howell High School, where he maintained a 4.43 GPA, ranking seventh in a class of 330. He is a member of the National Honor Society and was named to the "Who’s Who Among American High School Students." He participated in student government, DECA and was a member of the varsity lacrosse team. He played for the Howell Intramural Hockey Club for 10 years, and also served as a coach and referee. He will continue his education at the University of Maryland.
Buckley graduated from Freehold Township High School, where he was ranked 10th in a class of 458. He maintained a 4.713 GPA, and was the revision editor of the school newspaper, president of the school mediation program and a member of the National Honor Society. Buckley earned the Eagle Scout Award from the Boy Scouts of America after his project was to transform a portion of the Howell Intramural Hockey Club facility into a park-like setting, complete with flagpole, flag, memorial to fallen soldiers, park benches, flower boxes and flowers. He is also a member of the Order of the Arrow. Buckley will continue his education at George Washington University.
The scholarships were in the amount of $500.
