Gaylan’s Trading Co. Inc. celebrated the grand opening of its 105,000-square-foot sports and outdoor store at Freehold Raceway Mall July 23. The second in New Jersey, this store will offer customers an unconventional interactive experience including a rock climbing wall, golf simulator, putting green and archery range. The new store has 40 specialty departments for traditional sports as well as outdoor and adventure sports such as hunting, fishing, wakeboarding, paintball and mountain biking. Prudential New Jersey Properties’ Millstone office is sponsoring "A Day at the Races" July 30 to raise funds for the Sunshine Kids Organization.

The Sunshine Kids is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children who have been diagnosed with cancer.

PETCO Animal Supplies Inc. and the PETCO Foundation in the Howell and Freehold areas are raising funds for local animal welfare organizations that offer spay/neuter programs and education. For the second year, 10 percent of all funds raised will be donated to SPAY/USA, a spay-neuter advocacy and referral program.

Allison Koffler was recently recognized by The College of New Jersey, Ewing, as an Outstanding Educator for 2004.

A teacher since 1992, Koffler graduated from Georgian Court College, Lakewood, with a bachelor of arts degree in English in 1992 and a master of arts in education in 2004. She teaches at the Monmouth County Academy of Allied Health and Science, Neptune.
