The Western Monmouth Chamber of Commerce will hold a monthly general meeting Aug. 18 at 8:30 a.m. at the chamber office, 17 Broad St., Freehold. The guest speaker will be John A. Wanat, executive director of the Monmouth County Office on Aging. He will discuss several state and national projects that his office is providing to seniors and their caregivers, including Monmouth County’s "TeleCare" project.

Re/Max Central, Marlboro, announced that three associates have been inducted into the Re/Max International Hall of Fame.
The winning associates are: Tina Hoffman, Alexander Krongauz and Charlotte Ruden. Only 10 percent of individuals among the more than 87,000 Re/Max associates worldwide have been inducted into the Hall of Fame. Associates who have helped at least 350 families during their careers earn this award.
Brookdale Community College, Office of Business and Community Development, Lincroft section of Middletown, will host two three-day workshops for current and prospective substitute teachers Aug. 16-18 and Sept. 27-29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the school’s campus, Newman Springs Road. Topics include strategies and survival skills for all grade levels, administration expectations, classroom management tips and tricks, and evaluating and improving substituting performance. The program will be facilitated by Barbara J. McMorrow, who began in the Freehold Regional High School District in 1971 and retired as principal of Howell High School in 2003. Mark L. Engel, M.D., and Ronald D. Klug, M.D., of Ophthalmic Physicians of Monmouth, Holmdel, has announced the addition of Jason J. Steinfeld, M.D., Morganville, to the practice. Steinfeld recently completed his residency at the State University of New York, health sciences center at Brooklyn. He specializes in comprehensive ophthalmology such as small-incision cataract surgery and Lasik. Steinfeld received his degree magna cum laude at Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pa., and his medical degree at Pennsylvania State College of Medicine, Hershey.
The Monmouth Council of Girl Scouts Inc., Farmingdale, has launched its first online fund-raising initiative, "Commit to a Girl." The three-year-long campaign will feature a new Web site, www.CommitToAGirl.org, with information on the challenges girls face locally and nationally, and opportunities to support scouting locally and nationally. The Scout program in Monmouth and Northern Ocean counties addresses concerns about peer pressure, self-esteem, body image, career development, creative writing, dating, bullying, stress and other issues.
The Web site will allow visitors to make a donation to the Monmouth Council of Girl Scouts, create a "Commit to a Girl" page that can be customized to honor a loved one, contact old friends, celebrate a birthday, sign up for a book club, or even host a virtual fund-raising party.
