Mrs. Salvatore, 90, of Eatontown died July 23 at home. Born in Orange, she resided in West Long Branch before moving to Eatontown eight years ago. Mrs. Salvatore was a homemaker. She was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Salvatore, in 1994. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Francine and Frank Marucci of Eatontown; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. John the Baptist Church. Interment was at St. John’s Cemetery, Orange. The Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch, was in charge of arrangements. Sophia Romanyshyn Kaj
Mrs. Kaj, 82, of Eatontown, died July 13 at home following a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in the Ukraine, she came to the United States in 1968, and resided in West Long Branch prior to moving to Eatontown three years ago. She was a seamstress at Long Branch Manufacturing, and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, retiring in 1989. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Kaj in 1990; and a brother-in-law, Ralph B. Kukla in 2001. She is survived by two sisters, Maria Kukla of Eatontown, and Anna Remer of Louisville, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was at St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church, Eatontown. Interment was at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport. Arrangements were made by Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch.
Emilia Silvestre Vieira
Mrs. Vieira, 85, of Long Branch died July 28 at Kensington Manor, Toms River. Born in Barreira de Agua, Portugal, she came to the United States in 1967, and resided in Long Branch. She was predeceased by her husband, Manuel Mendes Vieira. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Amadeu and Ana Maria Vieira of Fatima, Portugal, and Manuel and Isabel Vieira of Colts Neck; a daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Manuel Guiomar of the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township; a sister, Adelina Gomes of Ocean; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Interment was at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport. Arrangements were by Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch.
Madeline G. Howell
Mrs. Howell, 85, of West Long Branch, died July 20 at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Woodbury, Conn., she resided in Eatontown prior to moving to West Long Branch five years ago. She was a retired employee at Baldanza Bakery, Long Branch. She was a parishioner at St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church, Eatontown. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Post No. 2140, Long Branch, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the West Long Branch Seniors. She was predeceased by her first husband, John Clementi in 1973; and a daughter, Madeline Hussey in 1995. She is survived by her husband, Walter Howell; five sons, Walter and Victor Clementi, both of Jackson; Frank Clementi and Walter Howell Jr., both of Eatontown; and John Clementi of Ocean Township; four daughters, Patricia Wenzel of the Lincroft section of Middletown, Kathleen Clementi and Patricia Riggi, both of Long Branch, and Rosanne Steets of West Long Branch; 26 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. Mrs. Russomanno, 84, of Long Branch died July 26 at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Long Branch, she was a lifelong resident. She was a parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch, where she was also president of the Rosary Altar Society. She was the president of the Women’s Democratic Club of Long Branch and a member of the Deborah Hospital Foundation. Mrs. Russomanno was predeceased by her husband, Gerard J. Russomanno, in 2000; and three brothers, John, Sam and Joe Acerra. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Rita Russomanno of West Long Branch; and two grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered July 31 at Star of the Sea Church. Interment followed at Mount Carmel Cemetery, West Long Branch.
