Michael Baskin, an optometric physician whose office is in Freehold Township, recently attended the Global Orthokeratology Symposium in Toronto. Optometric-related courses, lectures, panel discussions, hands-on workshops and information exchanges were presented at the education event. This year’s program agenda included advanced clinical practice methods and research relative to corneal reshaping, from central corneal thinning with myopic corneal refractive treatment to corneal thickening with hyperopic treatment, to treatment of the corneal for changes needed for bifocal refractive correction.
Mon-Oc Federal Credit Union employees have made a commitment to four local charities to make the transition to school easier for some children in need. From now until Aug. 21, employees, credit union members, and the public can pick an apple from the "apple trees" located in the six Mon-Oc Federal Credit Union offices — Freehold Township, Howell, Middletown, Neptune, Barnegat and Toms River. Each apple will represent a child who needs back-to-school supplies such as backpacks, notebooks, pencils, pens, etc.
