Obituaries Salvatore Castellano

Mr. Castellano, 78, died Aug. 11 following complications from Parkinson’s disease. Born in New York City, he resided there prior to moving to Hazlet 47 years. He was a senior design engineer and draftsman at Gibbs & Cox Inc., New York City, for 39 years, retiring in 1987. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a communicant of St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel, where he was a member of its lector’s society, cantor society, and men’s choir. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean "Jennie" Castellano; five daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Roy Churchman of Manasquan; Carol and John DeLibero of Harrison, N.Y.; Marie and William Bonomo of Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.; Regina and Bret Jefferson of Jackson; and Jeanine and Kirk Anderson of Howell Township; two brother and one sister-in-law, John Castellano of Edison, and Vincent and Nancy Castellano of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Benedict’s Church. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport. Memorial donations may be made to Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey, 141 Bodman Place, Red Bank 07701; or National Parkinson’s Foundation, 1501 NW Ninth Ave., Bob Hope Road, Miami FL 33136-1494.

Albert J. Gazzio

Mr. Gazzio, 77, of Old Bridge, died Aug. 4 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born in Newark, he resided there prior to moving to Old Bridge 37 years ago. He was a utility man at General Motors, Clark, for 30 years, retiring in 1987. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Gaetana Gazzio; two sons, Lenny of Old Bridge, and Jerry of the Dayton section of South Brunswick; three daughters, Paula Boyle of Old Bridge, Christina Lane of Hamilton, and Liliana Hickman of Riverside Calif.; a sister, Mary Tortorello of Toms River; and 12 grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Old Bridge. Arrangements were by Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge.
