The Jackson Civic Chorus is a community chorus sponsored by the Jackson Council for the Arts. Artistic Director and Chorus Conductor Margaret Ambrus Eisenschmied encourages interested vocalists of all ability levels to become involved in the music group. The chorus, which welcomes a diversity of ages and musical experience, rehearses Tuesday nights and sings primarily English language pieces encompassing a variety of genres, including gospel and spirituals, patriotic, folk, Broadway and show tunes, and classical styles.
An annual spring performance is presented for the public in addition to performances at municipal and other civic functions throughout the year.
No membership dues are associated with the chorus. The ability to read music is not necessary. There is no need to prepare a piece of music.
People who decide to join will be placed in a section (alto, soprano, tenor, bass) according to their vocal range. High school students (under age 18) interested in joining the chorus should phone ahead for additional information and requirements.
