LETTER: Candidate offers an introduction

To the editor:

The purpose of this letter is to introduce myself and let my friends and neighbors in Cranbury know that I am running for a seat on the Township Committee. I offer depth of experience as a community volunteer and advocate and a sincere desire to uphold the great quality of life that we all enjoy in our town.
Currently, I serve on the Environmental Commission and the Development Review Committee of the township Planning Board, as an officer in the Cranbury Lions Club, and in coaching youth sports. As the fourth generation of my family to reside in Middlesex County, I have known Cranbury to be a special place since my childhood. My wife Rebecca and I have been Cranbury residents since 1993. Our three daughters (Emily, 10, Claire, 7, and Charlotte, 6) were born here and currently attend Cranbury’s Blue Ribbon school.
My education and career center on the environment. I earned a master’s degree in environmental management from Duke University, and am a partner in an environmental sciences firm with offices in Cranbury. Prior to that, I taught science and math and coached at the Hun School of Princeton.
I respect Cranbury for its rich history, vibrant present and bright future. I believe my combination of demonstrated community service, personal heritage in New Jersey and professional experience provide a solid foundation for serving on the Township Committee. I look forward to working with the community to help ensure a sustainable future for Cranbury with stewardship of open space and agricultural land use, tempered with a judicious understanding of the necessary fiscal realities to keep our taxes stable.
I look forward to speaking with many of you in the near future as I walk our town to talk about your thoughts.
David J. Stout
