Habitat for Humanity of Long Branch along with the Jersey Shore Running Club (JSRC) and the Middletown Youth Athletic Association (MYAA) will host the fourth annual Navesink Challenge on Nov. 28 at Bodman Park in Middletown.
The Navesink Challenge includes a 15K run starting at 9 a.m. and a 5K run/walk starting at 9:15 a.m. Commemorative mugs will be given to the top 25 men and women in the 15 K and the top 10 in the 5K.

Monmouth University will again host “Debate Watch,” as it did in the last presidential election in 2000. The event provides an opportunity for Monmouth University students and faculty and members of the Jersey Shore community to watch the presidential debates together and to discuss their reactions. Each evening of the debates, the debate will be shown in Wilson Auditorium in Wilson Hall on the West Long Branch campus. Debate Watch is sponsored by the Departments of Communication and Political Science.

The Monmouth Beach Cub Scouts, Pack 1, are conducting their annual recruiting drive. The Scouts meet every other week and for many special events such as the Pinewood Derby, the Liberty Science Center Camp In, the Rocket Launch picnic and many more fun activities. The boys are also given instruction on all phases of scouting including sportsmanship, community service and skills. The Monmouth Beach Public Library has announced the lineup of Wednesday programs for children for the month of October.
The programs for preschoolers, ages 3 to 5, begin Oct. 6 with the film “Wilbur’s Story. That will be followed on Oct. 13 with “Singing Our Way Through Stories,” on Oct. 20 with a craft “Eye of God,” and on Oct. 27 with “Bats and Flying Objects” — stories. These programs are held from 1:30 to 2 p.m.
The programs for school age children in grades K through four, begin on Oct. 6 with a multimedia program. That will be followed on Oct. 13 with another multimedia program with the film “Mr. Frog Went A Courtin’, on Oct. 20 with a craft “Eye of God” and the film “The Bicyclist, and on Oct. 27 with a multimedia program with the film “The Ghost with the Halloween Hiccups.” These programs are held from 3:30-4:15 p.m.
There also is a toddler storytime series, for youngsters 2 1/2 to 3 1/2, from 10-10:20 a.m. on Oct. 6, 13, 20 and 27.
