Algonquin Arts will produce a new children’s musical, “Magic of Spring,” for First Night 2004, Manasquan’s New Year’s Eve performing arts festival. Auditions for the musical are now being conducted at Algonquin Arts Theatre, 173 Main St., Manasquan. Rehearsals will begin immediately after casting is completed. Brick Community Players will hold auditions for its January production of the musical “Snoopy” at 1 p.m. Oct. 30 in the recreation room of the Brick municipal building, Chambers Bridge Road. Director Corey Crawford is seeking two males and three females between the ages of 15 and 30, as well as one child between the ages of 7 and 12. All roles are open except for Linus. Mercer County Community College will hold open auditions for “ ’Twas the Night Before Christmas,” Nov. 6 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the college’s West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. Those auditioning should check in at the Kelsey Theatre for the audition room location. The production will be presented Dec. 2, 3, 4 and 5. Audition candidates should prepare a short monologue and Christmas carol with sheet music. A resume and photo are requested, if available. Writer/producers Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore will hold non-Equity auditions for “A Night at the Nutcracker” from 1-3 p.m. Nov. 6-7 at the Brookdale Community College Performing Arts Center, Lincroft (park in lot 2). Rehearsals will be held weekday evenings and weekend days Dec. 1-16. Performances of the musical-comedy will be at 8 p.m. Dec. 17, 18, 22 and 23, with additional matinees at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Dec. 18. There will be some travel pay. Those auditioning should bring a photo and a résumé, a song from the 1930s (an accompanist will be provided or actors may bring their own), and be prepared to dance with the choreographer. Sides will be provided at the audition (only).
